Losing Hearts, Minds, & Wars

Nov. 14 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. Senate opened debate today on measures that would put the chamber on record for the first time asking President George W. Bush to set limits for keeping American troops in Iraq.
The Bush administration “needs to explain to Congress and the American people its strategy for the successful completion of the mission,” say resolutions introduced separately by both Republicans and Democrats.
Both parties also would require that Iraq’s rival political factions be told they must make the compromises necessary to achieve a stable government, united against the insurgency, which will allow U.S. troops to leave.
In other words, the men and women who took an oath to defend America and what she stands for have decided to stand against that very thing. Any and all enemy factions that wish to wage war on the US and liberty now have the knowledge of just how much blood the US Senate can tolerate before it turns and runs. So far, the War on Terror has done much to show our mortal enemies that the American military and executive branch will fight the battles at any cost. But unfortunately, too many spineless whimps fill the halls of Congress.
While the measures express a non-binding “sense of the Senate,” together they’re “early pressure on a major U.S. military operation, in contrast to the Vietnam War” where congressional resistance didn’t occur until the early 1970s or about eight years after the start of the major military build- up, said Louis Fisher, a senior specialist on congressional war powers for the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.
The measures will prove attractive to Republicans up for re-election next year who want “to distance themselves from the White House,” Fisher said.
And there you have it. Some RORA’s (Republicans Against the Republican Agenda) and in this case, America’s, have chosen to place their personal political future in front of America’s. These lesser life forms want to make sure they can win elections by saying that they are against winning the War on Terror and giving the support needed to Iraq to fully transition from despotic regime to blossoming democracy.
The time table now set by the US Senate for any freedom dreaming nation to go from dictatorship to successful independent democracy is now just 3 years. A time table no country has ever met, and none will ever attempt when the World’s greatest superpower has reached its limit for bloodshed and resolve. Never again will the people of an oppressed nation stand up in hope that Freedom & Liberty will come marching to save them bearing the red, white, and blue on the arms of those sent to deliver.
The Republican resolution is sponsored by Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee and the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, John Warner of Virginia. The Democratic version is pushed by their counterparts, Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Carl Levin of Michigan, ranking Democrat on the armed services panel. Votes on the amendments are likely tomorrow.
Bill Frist is dead to me. If this amendment passes I would encourage any and all Republicans to oppose him for reelection. I would encourage all Republicans to stop support for the NRSC and all related Senate Republican organizations. These psuedo-McCains do nothing more than encourage the enemies of America and Freedom that the US Senate is unwilling to commit to winning wars and spreading freedom. The enemies of Freedom both home and abroad will now know that America is no longer a force to be reckoned with, it is now one to be waited out.
Now is the time for those of us who still believe in America and Freedom to stand up to those who care not for such things, when their own self interests are at risk. We need to remind them that America has an old promise to fulfill. Not one made by the faint at heart. A promise for the ages. A promise made to those who could not stand up for themselves. One that should never be forgotten, or turned on. Those of us who still have faith in the dream and hope of freedom for all, must make sure that America will follow through on an old promise made by a President a long time ago.
We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
That President said this on January 20, 1961. He was a great American. He was John F. Kennedy. Our nation could use a few more men like him in these trying times.

Bill Frist isn’t running for re-election. No need to waste effort to oppose his re-election. Furthermore, this is his last year, so he doesn’t have very long left as majority leader. Supporting the TN republican endorsed Senate candidate might be worthwhile to hold the Senate though.
I won’t repeat what I’ve said before about not supporting the NRSC.

Even worse. The guy has screwed up all things Republican in the Senate due to his dismal ability to hold the members as one body, and now he is trying to pass legislation that will endanger Americans.
Fine, I won’t oppose his reelection, I’ll call for his resignation immediately!

Personally, I believe that Sen Frist’s biggest failure was to not lead the gang of 14 compromise to confirm the judicial nominee’s that were unfairly filibustered, and let Sen McCain lead that compromise. That was really dropping the ball as far as I was concerned. Other then that, he’s probably a pretty average Majority Leader. Not too much to be upset about, but mediocre in his accomplishments.
As long as Tennessee elects another Republican to take his seat, I’d say that he served his time well and won’t be missed.

[...] After yesterday’s little blunder where the Republican Leader FRIST has actually called for our retreat from IRAQ, I will not be supporting the NRSC. I will support individual candidates taht I believe to be worthy, but I will not give money to the Senate Republicans as a whole, as I feel they are doing harm to the Nation. Not One More Dime!!!!!!! I weep for the America of the Founding Fathers; the America that used to be described as having that “can do spirit;” the America of inventiveness;” the America of “fighting until the last man is left standing; the America of “America first.”
I am mystified by this new and unimproved version of “gutless in Washington.” If the Founding Fathers had displayed the same “fortitude” of snatching defeat from victory, we would still be singing God bless the monarch. Maybe we are and no one told us. I have not been this livid in such a long time.
I am prepared to die when the Terrorists “drop in” in 2006, right after the enforced deadline that they are now eagerly anticipating. Until then, I am going to continue supporting the brave men and women who are defending us, and pray for no more Vietnams and Somalias.

A still proud American!

I am angry to all Republican collegues who voted for the Warner Amendment beyond words to express. This has made it clear to me that I have no political party to support. Even though I have been an loyal Republican ever since I could vote (I am 54 now), I will register now as an Independent and support only conservatives that I can trust.
The RNC should not waste any postage on a fund raising solitation with me; I WILL NO LONGER CONTRIBUTE.

Republicide Revisited
That moniker does have a history in my writings. The first time I used it was during the 1996 GOP primaries when every Pachyderm presidential pretender morphed into born-again Democrats at the prospect of a Reagan Republican (in the person of Steve F…

Why is it that the rep’s are so spineless!!! Why can’t they stand up to the gutless wimps of the left and start playing hardball. Bill Frist is the leader of this spinless downturn, what will it take before the “grand old party” takes the initiative and rebutts the lies being told by the left and the media. I am truly bummed!!! I pray this event does not hurt our wonderful troops overseas, my nephew is there!!! Dane B. Gummig

I have always registered to vote with no party affiliation, I think of myself as an independant conservative well no more I am going to register as a Republican and vote in the primary for anyone other than Mel Martinez (whom I voted for in 04 and I now regret that). Register as a Republican and get them out in the primaries that is the way to go.

I just wrote a note to the NRSC that was almost identical to Terry Cooper’s comments. I am so mad I can’t see straight. I’m a Viet Nam vet and I feel like I’m being screwed all over again. The people of Iraq are screwed. Militant Islam has won. We blinked first.
I’m not only registering Independent, I’m having real questions about even being an American - I’m loyal to the ideals and the principles that built this country, but with the Republican capitulation to the noisy left and the contry’s brainwashing at the hands of the media, I don’t think those principles count for much in this country anymore.

Here is what I just emailed to all the Republican Senators that voted for it.
Senator,
I am not a one issue voter with one exception the War On Terror. Passage of the Warner amendment today was a great victory FOR OUR ENEMY’S AND THE CUT AND RUN LOBBY. I will no longer support any incumbent that voted for it I will also no longer contribute money to the Republican party. How could you betray your base the President the troops and the Iraqi people Senator?
Sincerely
NOT ONE DIME!

I too have sent a letter requesting that Hastert and Frist step aside before they lead the wing into the ground. First it was the debacle with ANWR, then the silence at the lies put forth by the Democrats that they were “misled”
This Party has become spinelss and afraid of alienating someone. So what they do is appease the far left and abandon the base. How stupid can they be, how useless.
I let Ken Mehlman know that I consider all of the leadership of this party and administration at the present time to be brain dead and lacking any form of resolve and that I will not be sending any money to the party for them to waste. I will select the Conservatives that have earned my trust and admiration…Coleman, Allard,Brownback, Kyl, Cornyn and so very few others. Yes the rest are dead to me. The spineless traitors that defeated the amendment to the Budget bill that would have opened ANWR not only caved to the seductions of the environemental lobby (who seek to destroy this country) have committed a serious breach of their fiduciary duty all at the acquiesence of the “Leadership”…sic.
With representatives like these, Osama and his ilk can retire to the caves and watch us implode without firing a shot.
So raise the decibels. show these useless ones just how pissed we are. Maybe, just maybe they wil grow spines, or have the decency to admit their inadequacies and resign to give someone else a chance.

One other thing, It now turns out that Jay Rockefeller was disseminating intelligence to Syria before the war (at his own confession). The same Syria that is on the State Departments list of Sponsors of Terrorism.
To what degree is he responsible for the insurgency in Iraq. Intelligence indicates that the financial roots and intellectual foundation of the insurgency emanates from Syria. Many former leaders of the bath party an Saddams family now reside there. No doubt they had extra time to prepare this infrastructure given Rockefellers serious breach of National Security. How many Soldiers and civilians are dead as a result of your irresponsible and treasonous actions Senator Rockefeller?

So the hard Left-Democrats have said all along that Bush was a moron, but yet he ‘deceived them’ with faulty intel. If they can be deceived by an idiot, such a condition leaves them unfit to lead. But the Senate Republicans went one better and decided they’re more unfit to lead.
Absolutely disgusting. This isn’t a game… if the politicians refuse to back our military, our way of life and civilization will end.

…my e-mail to Sen. Frist…
“Your co-sponsorship of the Warner Amendment, demanding that the executive branch inform al Queda in Iraq when U.S. forces will surrender that unhappy country to them is a disgusting disgrace.
Please resign immediately”.
November 16th, 2005 at 2:26 am
Bravo!
We can still put pressure on the House to reject this plan, and let the President know we’d support a veto of the measure. There is still time for the United States as a whole to renounce the cowardice and dishonor of the Senate.
November 16th, 2005 at 4:18 am
The Yell, I hear ya brother, but do you remember how many vetoes President Bush has imposed on the crap that comes up from Congress?
Zero.
I doubt Bush has the nads to veto a Congressional demand that he inform Abu Musab al-Zarqawi when the United States will acquiesce to worldwide terrorism for short term political “gain”. Perhaps he must ask permission from Vicente Fox first…
I’m seriously re-thinking my identification with the GOP…

Has anyone heard about these Rinos in the senate being in the pocket of George Soros? I got an email yesterday and today from GrasstopsUSA and they are usually reliable. Over the past couple years.. I have been stunned and stupified why these guys act like they do.. this could account for some of their behavior…. just follow the money it seems. BTW… I will NO longer vote for Anyone… I prefer to drop out of society as it is… These GOPers in Washington cant be trusted… GWBush helped put Arlen Spectre where he is at… legitimizes Clinton and the UN whenver he gets the chance.. calls Hard Working TAXPAYING Americans who in their spare time protect our borders… “Vigilantes” while calling “ILLEGAL” Immigrants friendly Undocumented Workers!! GWBush also said when asked about Rowe Vs Wade… “Our country isnt ready for change on this now” Well…. isnt that Special! GWBush picked Cheney knowing that his daughter was a Homosexual Lesbian… that by all accounts Marginalized him on the Family issue. There is one man Id vote for and that is Zel Miller..if it werent for Zel and the Swift Boat Vets… Kerry would be sitting in the WH now… Big Deal… Susan

Frist is one turkey the president should not pardon this year. He was dead to me a long time ago.
November 16th, 2005 at 9:35 am
[...] So the Amendment to end the war on terror I posted on the other night did pass. Bill Frist is dead to me. So is John Warner (Amendment Author) and Minnesota’s Norm Coleman too. All of them voted for this. [...]

Instead of Frist being dead to me………although I often use that expression myself……….I want him to suffer a little. I want to see him get thinner and thinner and although the bones are already showing in his factial structure, I want to see “the walking dead” Let his hallow self be a reminder to any Republican who wants to lead the Senate or run for President that he better have courage to STAND TALL despite all the dogs wanting you to get in the cage with them. I hope all the Republicans who actually hold most of the beliefs of the Democrats to get out of our party. I called Frist, Warner and McConnell’s offices this morning and was quite frank in what I thought of their Warner Amendment. I hope all families who have loved ones in Iraq would visit Warner and Frist’s home at Thanksgiving and give them a big turkey!!
They make me SICK!
As Laura Ingram says “where are the leaders”??? My next calls will be to the 14 lonely senators who voted no to Warner’s amendment. They really need a big pat on the back for doing what? What a Republican Senator should do.
