Take This Cob and Shove It #3

Talk about propaganda journalism.
Motorists get pumped up over ethanol
Statewide retail sales of ethanol fuel set a record in July as gas prices hovered around $3 a gallon. The state’s 288 stations pumped 2.1 million gallons of E85, which is made with 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. That’s nearly three times the E85 sold last July, and as much as was sold in all of 2003, according to the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Besides high gas prices, a growing awareness among drivers and more retailers selling the fuel are driving up sales, said Tim Gerlach, director of outdoor air programs for the American Lung Association of Minnesota, which has coordinated the state’s ethanol push since 1998.
Go read the whole thing, take a drill and try to bore the memories out through your ear, and then ask yourself, “Why is their no opposing side in this story? Not one person to refute the ethanazi’s BS.
I’ve recently talked to a mechanic for a GM dealer, and he says that current GM cars will not run on the E-20 that is being pushed. Not to mention the fact that vehicles burning E-85 get horrible milage, like 20 to 30% less. That means you have to buy more to go as far as you would on regular old gasoline. So you idiots that think you are saving money, are actually paying more.
And if you think your green conscience will make you feel better, burning ethanol is no cleaner than gasoline, and if you take into account that you are burning more, you are not actually polluting less. Sorry to piss in your wheaties, but reality is a bitch sometimes.
I hope politicians wake up and smell the reality soon. Neither party is innocent in this one, but one side, the GOP, sure as heck should know better. The cult mentality displayed by everyone pushing this crap is scary. They are pushing this crap like it is the end all be all silver bullet that will save our world. When it is actually going to destroy it.
Our farm lands will be too busy growing corn to make food anymore. The cost of food will skyrocket worse than gasoline’s has. Our waterways will become terribly polluted from all the extra agricultural runoff that is created from the increased farm land and usage. So now water treatment will have to be increased, and thus the price of water will skyrocket.
Get it yet, this crap is not going to save us, but rather kill America. It will pollute the land a sea. It will raise the price of food and water. Oh and no one ever mentions that adding E-85 pumps to gas stations cost $50,000 per pump, so the stations will go broke appeasing the ethanazis.
Meanwhile, all this crap is unnecessary. We have exactly what we need to have cheap fuel for our cars. It is called oil. We’re the only fricking nation in the world that refuses to drill for the oil under our own soil. There is all this talk about safety and security if we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and to that I say HA! Ha I say!
Let us drill for oil. Hell all you idiots in DC have to do is say, ok, go ahead. You don’t even have to spend our tax dollars on it. If you want to reduce the dependence on foreign oil, let us use domestic oil. And stop shoving that corn cob up our collective asses.

So which candidates for Governor are pushing for E-85?
How about which Senate candidates talk about evil big oil and pushed for more ethanol?

Gee, Andy, I thought the story came out pretty well. The story was about E85 sales being up sharply in Minnesota — and they are. Informed owners of flexible fuel vehicles have the choice of what type of fuel they want to buy — gasoline or E85. Increasingly, more Minnesotans are chosing E85.
If you don’t want to use E85, that’s your choice. Clearly, many Minnesotans have decided to use the clean air choice in their vehicles. Good for them — good for Minnesota.

Between supporting smoking bans and E85 Governor Pawlenty seems to be acting like a puppet to the American Lung Association…..Here’s one more conservative who WON”T vote for RINO Tim Pawlenty….Tim “the era of small government is over” Pawlenty, do us all a favor and join the DFL party already……I’m sure Bob the Lunger can show you the secret handshake to get you in the door.

Choice?
The choice is being made by the station owners, not the drivers. How many people even notice the E85 designation? Do a quick poll of your friends, and most will look at you blankly. Some will tell you they assumed it was a cleaning additive.
To our unknowing credit (ignorance really can be bliss), this will bring more money into the corn belt than was coming in before, so our boats will rise faster than, say, the boats in New Orleans. (Okay, bad example . . .) But, truly, given the real cost to manufacture, and the mileage drop, E85 is the AlGore solution - i.e., an unscientific answer to a meaningless question.

Lung Ass Bob,
You’re lying to them and you know it. All the talking points supporting E85/E20/E10 are easily defunked. It is a boondoggle based on junk science and misleading advertising by hacks like you. You’re leading the charge against American free will and liberty by forcing politicians to pander due to your fraudulent campaign for this crap.
You’re not providing choice, you’re providing false information that is influencing peoples choice. I certainly hope your misguided organization had to pay to have a fluff piece like that printed. Everyone else has to pay for ads in the paper.

Doesn’t Pawlenty basically want to sue oil companies that do not mandate E-85… WHY do you support this guy?

Fuckin’ lung! Popped up from the fever swamp again I see. And what was this:
“If you don’t want to use E85, that’s your choice. ”
Err, yeah…but why do I have to subsidize a worthless product? I reeeealy hope you start in on this crap lung, E85 is the environmentalists tar baby…oh, not like anything as trivial as an actual FACT would slow you down.

Andy any specific reason why you a bitter SOB ?
The price of E85 in Minnesota is good enough that MOST drivers are coming out ahead. I know this for fact despite your ramblings and the nonsense you are getting from GM mechanics on E20 let alone E85. (GM wants to sell new cars they don’t want you spending a few hundred to convert your current vehicle)
ANY vehicle can run E85 (let alone E85) ..We have millions of miles of proof via our websites.
The only difference between a FFV and a Non FFV is the computer programming and sometimes larger fuel injectors.. The FACT is it cost the Auto Industry less the $100 to convert any vehicle to a E85 FFV .
And why is it in all your ramblings about cost you never want to discuss BLOOD.. let alone the trillions we spend protecting our Oil interest in the Middle East . Ethanol is FAR less expensive than Blood ..you think that’s just BS ? Here is a post on one of our forums by a Retired Military Captain
P.S.- Dan-
I think you’ll appreciate this:
I’m a retired military Captain. I buy E85 to keep my fellow soldiers alive. If we switched much more to ethanol we could save lives.
Andy you have a entertaining website but you screw with the facts so much it is difficult for anyone to really take you seriously..I suppose maybe that’s your goal entertainment over facts?
E85 really is Choice Fuel .. yes it receives subsides just like the Oil Companies Gasoline does with the exception that Ethanol doesn’t require any blood .. we don’t have to die for it we don’t have to kill for it ..
Before you blow your top I’d like to say I do agree with you on mandated ethanol as an additive.. (up-to E10) E10 really does very little for the consumer..there is no Choice at the pump it is simply added to all gasoline in MN ..
no competition between Ethanol Industry and Oil Companies..in fact it makes for a cozy relationship because 99% of all ethanol produced is sold directly to the Oil companies who do the blending and get the blending credits ..the very Industry the Ethanol Industry should be competing against (alternative fuels .E20 , E40 , E85.. against the Oil Companies Unleaded .
E10 is the gravy train for Ethanol and Oil.. E85 on the other hand actually requires an investment to build out ..to add stations to add tanks and pumps etc..
The Subsidies for E10 should end ..separation between Ethanol and Oil should end .. the way to do that is to move the blending credits the Oil Companies get on E10 to incentify the Ethanol Industry to set up their own E85 Retail infrastructure and add blending pumps ..Blending Pumps are key. A Blender Pump is a Gas Pump that has 2 tanks underground..one tank holds Gasoline the other Ethanol (the blending is done as the consunmer picks a fuel)..
The Consumer then has CHOICE (not mandate) and can choose between Unleaded , E10, E20, E30 or E85 AND the gives Ethanol a real ability to actually compete against oil ( Moving the blending credit away from Oil and to the Ethanol Industry)
Any real anger at ethanol subsidies should be focused on the fact the it is the Oil Industry getting the credits (not the ethanol industry)..we are paying scrooge ..that should be the outrage IMO
