#1 in total tax burden that is.
DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN!
The DFL House is going to try to override the veto today, and they are boasting that they have the votes. Unfortunately Gov. Pawlenty has felt it more important to be in Washington rubbing elbows, rather than back home twisting Republican arms to sustain his veto. He left the heavy burden of holding Republicans accountable to the grassroots activists this weekend, and we did just that. But unfortunately, Tinglestad, Erhardt, Hamilton, Peterson, & Heidgerken are back in the midst of liberal tax and spend special interests and corrupt DFLers. We have just a few hours to right the wrong that is the Transit tax bill. I still haven’t met one single person face to face who supports this bill. Granted I haven’t seen any DFL elected officials, or wayward (R)s for that matter. Conservative activists triumphed last week and over the weekend, but we haven’t made it through the finish line yet. We’re on the final turn, and the finish line is in sight. We need to make sure they sustain the veto and block $7 billion in new taxes with out true solutions to our transportation problems.
Call your State Legislators! All of them. And make sure you remind the 6 Republicans who voted for the bill that we will not overlook their votes anymore.
Rep. Jim Abeler of Anoka - (651) 296-1729 - rep.jim.abeler@house.mn
Rep. Ron Erhardt of Edina - (651) 296-436 - rep.ron.erhardt@house.mn
Rep. Bud Heidgerken of Freeport - (651) 296-4317 - rep.bud.heidgerken@house.mn
Rep. Neil Peterson of Bloomington - (651) 296-7803 - rep.neil.peterson@house.mn
Rep. Kathy Tinglestad of Andover - (651) 296-5369 - rep.kathy.tingelstad@house.mn
Rod Hamilton (R) 22B (651) 296-5373 - rep.rod.hamilton@house.mn
Accountability is not a river in Asia. Stop the massive tax increase and power grab. Tell them to sustain the veto.

Elections are taking place across the state today, and I encourage all New Brighton citizens to get out there and vote.
The lads at Boots On do a fantabulous job on who you should and should not vote for.
(ahem: It is sure time for a change)

I just got word that 4 (so called) Republicans are preparing/considering to help override Gov. Pawlenty’s veto of the Gas Tax increase.
Four Republican state Representatives are preparing to help override the Governor’s veto for another
gas tax increase.
They need to hear your opposition via calls and email messages. They are:
Kathy Tinglestad 651 296-5369 and 763 421-2000 rep.kathy.tinglestad@house.mn
Neil Peterson 651 296-7803 and 952 941-1822 rep.neil.peterson@house.mn
Jim Abler 651 296-1729 and 612 245-3764 rep.jim.abler@house.mn
Ron Erhardt 651 296-4363 and 952 927-4363 rep.ron.erhardt@house.mn
I suggest you all remind them that there is plenty of money in St. Paul, that there is a $2.2 billion dollar surplus, and that they had better not break ranks with the GOP Caucus.

Via Powerline, we find out about a major lie in George Tenet’s book exposed by the Weekly Standard.
THE WEEKLY STANDARD has now learned of a second, more stunning error in Tenet’s book (which is due to appear in bookstores tomorrow). According to Michiko Kakutani’s review in Saturday’s Times,
On the day after 9/11, he [Tenet] adds, he ran into Richard Perle, a leading neoconservative and the head of the Defense Policy Board, coming out of the White House. He says Mr. Perle turned to him and said: “Iraq has to pay a price for what happened yesterday. They bear responsibility.”
Here’s the problem: Richard Perle was in France on that day, unable to fly back after September 11. In fact Perle did not return to the United State until September 15.
As John notes at the bottom of the post, “So, along with his other failings, George Tenet is a liar. Some will say that President Bush’s biggest mistake was trusting the key post of Director of Central Intelligence to a Democrat.”
Oh how true. Most of the ‘holdovers’ from the Clinton administration have come back to bite Bush in the behind. With the hyperpartisan Democrats on the full court press to surrender in Iraq, this book is suspiciously well timed. Especially given that Congressional Democrats are playing a game of political chicken with troop funding for the Iraq war.
Let the bush administration be an example for every future Republican President. Do not trust Democrats who were there before you.
What happened to the idea that the CIA and FBI were bumbling idiots? What happened to the idea that neither agency was aware that they knew pieces of the 9-11 plot, but didn’t coordinate or communicate?
[sigh]
Oh, well, it is because Tenet comes from the Clinton era where our inteligence community was a law enforcement agency, not defense minded. Tenet’s CIA was able to finger the 19 hijackers in mere hours, but they couldn’t stop them.
I’m not surprised Tenet is tryi9ng to rewrite history. After 9-11 the CIA changed, it couldn’t be reactive any longer.
Oh well, its a book, loosely based on factual events, written by a Democrat, to smear a Republican.

The Anoka County Watchdog has a great bumper sticker out.

He’s giving them away. Go get one if you too think that the Northstar Rail is a complete and total joke, not to mention waste of valueabl transportation dollars.

From the INBOX, via CCHC
========================================
LEGISLATIVE ALERT - ATTEMPT TO DELETE PATIENT CONSENT
========================================
On Monday morning, Rep. Thissen will bring up his ONLINE MEDICAL
RECORDS bill (HF 1726).
MONDAY, March 19, 2007
8:00 AM
Room: 5 State Office Building
Chair: Rep. Paul Thissen
Agenda: HF1726 (Thissen) Health Records Act adopted
HF1041 (Abeler) Controlled substances prescription electronic reporting
system established. [This isn't good either!!!]
[...]
The Minnesota Department of Health has informed me that they
are working on an amendment that will DELETE Rep. Abeler’s 3/15
patient consent amendment and ADD an opt-out dissent option.
In other words, as I warned a day ago, your personal and medical
data can be transferred online to a central registry without your
consent. Then if and when you find out about it and what it means,
you will have to take measures to have the data removed (which
will still behind data documenting your choice to opt-out), and to
make sure that every clinic, doctor, hospital or nursing facility
doesn’t put it back on.
Here’s what this opt-out means:
1) If enacted as law, this law will set a precedent that says patient
data can be moved and placed online without the consent or direct
knowledge of the patient. This will only be the FIRST bill of its kind.
2) The burden will always be on you to figure out what’s going on
with your personal information, to find out how to stop it, and to
take action.
3) The health department thinks that your private data is their public
data…or more accurately, they are trying to make it legally theirs.
Their initial bill kept you completely out of the picture. This attempt to
give you an opt-out still keeps them in control and you secondary in
the decision.
4) For the sake of “public health” you will have no right to keep your
private data to yourself…or private.
