"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil CavutoJune 2008)
“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.”
Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.”
(Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)
"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)
"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)
Here’s a link to the list of Legislators and their votes on the Seifert Amendment to bar Municipal Welfare to cities that are Sanctuary Cities for Illegal Immigrants.
An amendment that would provide local government aid only to cities that allow law enforcement officials to check immigration status failed, 66 votes to 67.
Result: Rejected
That’s right, can’t cut off the gravy train for cities that allow illegal immigrants to roam free, and prohibit law enforcement officials from even trying to determine if they belong in this country.

Here’s a CNN clip on that site all must see.
I’m a Catholic who is finding his way back toward his Church, and may even get to meet someone very high up in my religion in the near future.Still, I feel no reason to go be violent and confrontational in front of another denomination’s venue of faith.
Angelina Jolie is in Iraq, and is not toeing the Hollywood line.
My visit left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term, national security interest in ending this crisis.
Kudos for her not being a limosine liberal and lofting rhetoric from Davos and Beverly Hills. She sees the refugees in other countries as a burden.
So, let;s domesticize this, who is going to do something about the burdensome criminal refugees that we have in America? No I know they aren’t criminal refugees, they’re criminal aliens. Hang on lefties and Amnesty lovers. Our laws say don’t sneak in or or overstay your visit, they broke them, thus - criminal aliens.
Anyways,m they are a tremendous burden on our country. They are taking jobs, and most likely a lot of them are off the books jobs. In other cases they drive the wages throw the basement. And all of that so they can send billions of dollars back to their countries of origin. Those billions should be in our country.
I’m serious. Mexico and other Latin American countries are invaded our economy and treasury departments. Be it simply stealing jobs and exporting American wage earnings, or getting taxpayer funded medical treatment and education, criminal aliens in the United States may be a huge factor in the economic downturn we are in.
So congrats G.I. Jolie for trying to do something truly humanitarian and doing more than most Hollywood elites. And to my fellow Americans, it is time to get serious about our Domestic world. We cannot be the hostel (not hostile) and ATM for all the world’s impoverished.
Look, I know America was built by people coming here from abroad and taking the risk to live the America dream. My problem is, that that is not what 20 some million or so criminal aliens are doing. Just think, can America continue to be an orphanage. Police force for the world, and afford have jobless people robbing the cookie jar from the shadows and filling up their own jars in another cookie jar?
Now that the World’s eyes are finally on China with the Olympics coming, China is finally trying to figure out how to pull the curtain over all their pollution. Oh and playing God. Read the whole thing, but here’s the conclusion.
Another worry: Beijing’s severe air pollution. Dr. Daniel Rosenfeld, a meteorologist at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem who has visited his Chinese colleagues, said there are early indications that pollution decreases rain, which may be driving Beijing and northern China further into drought.
The International Olympic Committee has already threatened to postpone some endurance events if Beijing’s air quality is poor. Beijing, a city of 17 million, is expected to ban 1.5 million vehicles from the roads, shut factories and foundries and halt the city’s frantic construction boom for the games.
“The only thing that cleans up the pollution is the rain, and if they are going to suppress rain, my worry is the pollution will be oppressive,” said Dr. Veerabhadran Ramanathan, an atmospheric scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, who will use the Olympics to study the impact of reduced pollution. “It’s a Catch-22.”
We had an increase in the main fuel source for America, domestically?
CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez on Sunday threatened to cut off oil sales to the United States if Exxon Mobil Corp. wins court judgments to seize billions of dollars in Venezuelan assets.
“If you end up freezing (Venezuelan assets) and it harms us, we’re going to harm you,” Chavez said, directing his words to U.S. President George W. Bush. “Do you know how? We aren’t going to send oil to the United States. Take note, Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger.”
Exxon Mobil has gone after the assets of Venezuela’s state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA, in U.S., British and Dutch courts as it challenges the nationalization of a multibillion dollar (euro) oil project by Chavez’s government last year. A British court has issued an injunction “freezing” as much as $12 billion in assets.
Chavez is a thugocrat that is adored by some on the left. He’s a socialist dictator and employs political and social plans that many leading liberal Democrats hope to bring to America.
That being said, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the US was willing to explore and drill for our own Domestic oil? Seriously, if we want to end our addiction to foreign oil, the immediate solution is easy, no we don’t have to go cold turkey to renewables. We could extend the R & D period for the next generation of energy if we would just use the oil that lies beneath our own soil and off our coastlines.
The ethnic strife in the Kosovo town of Vitina underscores the challenge that confronts NATO-led peacekeepers as the southern Serbian province prepares to declare independence.
Nearly a decade after Kosovo’s 1998-99 war, tensions still run high between its ethnic Albanian majority and Serbian minority — and the Western military alliance hopes its “boots on the ground” approach will make both sides feel safer as they face an uncertain future.
Can anyone tell me why it is ok to stay as long as needed to have the political solution in Kosovo, but not in Iraq?
One of the guests Sue Jeffers and I had on when we sat in for Dan Conry on KTLK 100.3FM was Professor Al Pekarek who is one of the growing number of scientists who dispute the lunacy that is the Global warming movement. The truth is that the Earth’s climate is always changing, and there is little humans can do to change that.
But that isn’t stopping Gov. Tim Pawlenty (Sierra Club MN) from teaming up with the man made global warming fearmongers. He’s still touch and go as to whether he will accept Will Steger’s invitation to consume vast amounts of fossil fuels flying up to the Arctic Circle to see that ice actually melts and freezes. (who knew!)
In the end, the Governor may realize he cannot take his base for granted and his leftward drift on green issues could end up being the final straw for him with conservatives, so he may refuse the grand photo op so many lefties have taken already.
But the Governor has decided to Steger is not untouchable, and will be appearing with him next week in Northern Minnesota to try to convince people to buy into the non-sense that is the current agenda of environmentalism. (Read: An end to your way of life.)
Explorer Will Steger and Gov. Tim Pawlenty are teaming up again on global warming.
Pawlenty and Steger will host a community forum to discuss climate change next Friday in Ely.
The meeting at Vermilion Community College will include representatives of the mining and paper industries, academic experts and union advocates. Pawlenty’s office announced the Jan. 4 meeting on Thursday.
This is a prime example of getting in bed with your political enemies, “Union advocates”. Why in the world are union advocates part of the Governor’s environutter agenda? These are the people who work harder to defeat Republicans and conservatives than …..
It is just astonishing to see Pawlenty jump into the Al Gore deep end of the kool aid filled global warming lunacy pool, what’s worse are his swim partners he is now choosing.
ROME (Reuters) - An Italian court has ruled that a couple could not name their son “Friday” and ordered that he instead be called Gregory after the saint whose feast day he was born on.
“I think it is ridiculous they even opened a case about it,” the family’s lawyer, Paola Rossi, told Reuters by telephone from the northern city of Genoa on Tuesday.
Friday/Gregory Germano was born in Genoa 15 months ago. The parents registered him as Friday in the city hall and a priest even baptised him as Friday — unusual in Italy since many priests insist that first names be of Christian origin.
“We named him Friday because we like the sound of the name. Even if it would have been a girl, we would have named her Friday,” the boy’s mother, Mara Germano, told Reuters.
When the boy was about five months old, a city hall clerk brought the odd name to the attention of a tribunal, which informed the couple of an administrative norm which bars parents from giving “ridiculous or shameful” first names to children.
The tribunal said it was protecting the child from being the butt of jokes and added that it believed the name would hinder him from developing “serene interpersonal relationships”.
And now the world gets to make Rome the butt of nanny state jokes.
The appeals court ruled against Friday because it recalled the servile savage in Daniel Defoe’s novel Robinson Crusoe and because superstitious Italians consider Friday an unlucky day.
Congress last night passed a giant new spending bill that undermines current plans for a U.S.-Mexico border fence, allowing the Homeland Security Department to build a single-tier barrier rather than the two-tier version that has worked in California.
Pelosi’s do-nothing Congress has finally gotten off their duffs, but unfortunately, making the country more vulnerable and less secure is tops on their ‘to-do’ list.
The 2006 Secure Fence Act specifically called for “two layers of reinforced fencing” and listed five specific sections of border where it should be installed. The new spending bill removes the two-tier requirement and the list of locations.
Hugo Chavez lost his bid to change his country’s laws so he could remain socialist leader supreme indefinitely.
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez suffered a stunning defeat Monday in a referendum that would have let him run for re-election indefinitely and impose a socialist system in this major U.S. oil provider.
Voters defeated the sweeping measures Sunday by a vote of 51 percent to 49 percent, said Tibisay Lucena, chief of the National Electoral Council, with voter turnout at just 56 percent.
She said that with 88 percent of the votes counted, the trend was irreversible.
Opposition supporters shouted with joy as Lucena announced the results on national television early Monday, their first victory against Chavez after nine years of electoral defeats.
Some broke down in tears. Others began chanting “And now he’s going away!”
So all that talk about how badly other nations hate America seem untrue. If the citizens of Venezuela hated America so, they’d surely have voted overwhelmingly to allow Chavez stay in power and implement his communist agenda for life. But instead, they voted against the anti-America thug.
At a polling station in one politically divided Caracas neighborhood, Chavez supporters shouted “Get out of here!” to opposition backers who stood nearby aiming to monitor the vote count. A few dozen Chavistas rode by on motorcycles with bandanas and hats covering their faces, some throwing firecrackers.
Opponents—including Roman Catholic leaders, press freedom groups, human rights groups and prominent business leaders—feared the reforms would have granted Chavez unchecked power and threatened basic rights.
Cecilia Goldberger, a 56-year-old voting in affluent eastern Caracas, said Venezuelans did not really understand how Chavez’s power grab would affect them. She resented pre-dawn, get-out-the-vote tactics by Chavistas, including fireworks and reveille blaring from speakers mounted on cruising trucks.
“I refuse to be treated like cattle and I refuse to be part of a communist regime,” the Israeli-born Goldberger said, adding that she and her businessman husband hope to leave the country.
I wonder if Rep. Ellison (CAIR MN 5) will recommend these tactics as part of his ‘everyone must vote proposal.
Freedom won yesterday and communism lost. Congrats to Venezuela. You’ve taken the first step on the long road to true liberty. Don’t give up, you do still have to deal with this thug for 4 more years though.
Freedom is not something the Government can take from one person and redistribute to another.
