Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Sen. Hoffman Running For Congress CD7

Republican State Senator Gretchen Hoffman of Vergas announced she will run against Congressman Colin Petersen in the 7th District.

Here’s the release:

Gretchen Hoffman Announces Run for Congress

Republican Will Challenge Longtime Washington Politician Collin Peterson

Vergas, Minn. – Vergas Republican Gretchen Hoffman today entered the race for Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District, challenging 11-term Democrat Collin Peterson. Hoffman is a former nurse and small business owner and is currently serving her first term in the Minnesota Senate. In her announcement, Hoffman vowed to give Congressman Collin Peterson his toughest challenge to date.

“Like many of my neighbors, I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with Washington politicians who continually fail to clean up the mess they’ve created with their mountains of wasteful spending,” said Hoffman. “Collin Peterson has simply been in Washington too long and has lost touch with his Minnesota values. I look forward to the coming campaign and building a winning coalition of Minnesotans who want to see fiscal responsibility return to our nation’s capitol.”

Hoffman has received a 100% rating from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and a “Best Friend of the Taxpayer” award from the Taxpayer’s League of Minnesota for her work in the state Senate.

Hoffman was born and raised in North Dakota, but has been a resident of Minnesota for more than 30 years. She has been married to her husband Virgil for 29 years, and they have three grown sons, Jonathan, Joseph and Douglas. Gretchen and her husband are proud, long-time members of the National Rifle Association.
