Oh My – Strib Really Outdoes Itself To Cover For Washington Walz
One of the worst kept secrets around has been that Allen Quist was going to run against Tim ‘Washington’ Walz. You see Walz has turned into a reliable lapdog for Pelosi and Obama. But the Strib decided today was the day to lash out and try to cut Quist down at the knees before Walz even bothered to respond.
In one of the most biased and anti-Republican news stories I’ve seen, Doyle and the Strib go straight for the knockout at the opening bell.
Is Quist too conservative to beat foe he calls too liberal?
The social conservative brings “strength and enthusiasm” to the First District, a GOP official said. The DFL Party said he offers “right-wing rhetoric,” not solutions.
And that was before we even got to the byline.
Allen Quist’s conservative zeal has long been his political strength — and his weakness.
And there we have the first sentence. A first sentence that leads the innocent readers to believe that conservatism is a mental disorder or plague for politicians. That’s the problem and where the bias from Doyle and the Strib distract them from just printing DFL talking points and taking it upon their own shoulders to undermine anyone willing to stand up to the Washington elite and their lapdogs in Congress.
But it remains to be seen whether residents of the southern Minnesota district — including Republicans — will find Quist mainstream enough for their taste.
That is still Doyle’s writing. That isn’t DFL talking points, well, at least he is officially quoting a DFLer. Nope he is taking it upon himself to characterize Quist as unsuitable for not only the general public, but so conservative even the Republican party doesn’t quite like him. (sidenote: this is the same Republican party people like Doyle have said is full of out of touch radical right wing conservatives) The Strib and Doyle are effectively poisoning Quist’s first impression with voters so the election is over even before it begins.
And of course they even take a shot at Bachmann in the story at the behest of the DFL.
Neither Walz’s congressional office nor his campaign responded Thursday to Quist’s portrayal of him. But the state DFL Party issued a statement that said Quist offered “right-wing rhetoric while refusing to offer solutions.” It noted that he has been a political associate of Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of the Sixth District, and would “rival her for ineffectiveness.”
Shall we talk about what Walz has brung home for his District? Record deficits and a looming debt bomb that will sack future generations of Walz’s District to suffer from inflation, live in a America that is less free, a Federal Government that has thrown the COnstitution out the window and is now the central planer for citizens, a health care system run exclusively by the Federal Government not by and or for doctors and patients, and handing hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for each man woman and child to pay for.
Ugh, I really can’t believe this is something that was written by the mainstream media. This would be status quo liberal writing for the Huffington Post, Daily Kos, or the echochamber of local left wing Soros rent-a-bloggers, but this was written by a real journalist and is appearing in a real newspaper.
I really don’t even know where to go next on the article in exposing the flat out left leaning bias of this article. The rest of it is simply liberal rhetoric and talking points about Quist being so out of the mainstream that he couldn’t even win the Republican endorsement in 2010, let alone compete with Walz.
Folks, this is so bad that I think the Strib may finally have just thrown in the phony journalism towel and put their foot on the accelerator of the left wing propaganda arm.
How far Quist goes will depend heavily on the clout of conservative activists, who are flexing their muscle in Minnesota.
The story goes on to talk about how the left wing liberal Republican Arne Carlson beat Quist in a Primary…. after Quist stole the endorsement away from a sitting Governor. But they still try to leave the impression (actually conclusion) that Quist will never even be seriously considered by even the right wing Republicans in the 1st District, ;et alone the general public.
And through out the story, do you know what never happens? They never mention this was a long time Republican District and that Walz ran as a conservative Democrat. They don’t mention how that the Walz that bothers to show up at home usually carries a hefty stack of DC Democrat talking points and is a little sore from the harness that Pelosi has on him and his votes.
Walz went from an in-your-face-President-Bush independent minded Democrat to a rubberstamp for Pelosi and the left wing national party. Besides the millions and millions in ear marks, he has simply sent home a left wing voting record.
“Allen Quist could maybe defeat a Jim Ramstad-type Republican,” said Hofrenning, referring to the former GOP congressman from the Third District. “Allen Quist could defeat a moderate liberal.
Did anyone bother to tell Doyle at this point that the entire point of Quist running was to beat Walz and have someone who more closely aligns with the conservative District’s voters ends up representing the District in Washington?
But the Strib doesn’t really want you to know that. In their eyes, the ballots have been recounted and the debate is over. Walz wins a 3rd term. Forget that he does a better job representing and voting for the national Democratic special interests, then he does for the average citizens in his District.
The facts are pretty clear that Walz is just another Washington Democrat, but of course the Strib can’t tell you that. Nope, if they let Minnesotans know that the Districts that fall outside the urban core of Ellison and Betty’s turf, are actually comprised of Minnesotans who oppose abortion on demand, bailouts, amnesty for illegals, and government dictated society … why well, the next thing you know Democrats would start losing because those pesky voters out there don’t know they are supposed to just listen to the educated people…..
And they wonder why their subscriptions are dwindling and they had to go bankrupt. Well, the finances eventually have to align with the agenda and journalistic ethics.
Folks, Quist is better aligned to the District then the guy Walz first ran as. You know, its the conservative version that he presented to voters, but Walz never bothered to pack that version of himself and bring it with the Washington.
On a side note: It will be interesting to see what establishment Republican leadership does. Quist is a real conservative, who has received the usual just before election day – media lashing on the very first day. I’m wondering if team Sutton/Brodkorb will get nervous about someone who is not afraid to wear his principles on his sleeve. Quist running in the 1st will be an interesting and very public, test case to see if they will or will not intervene or undercut Districts. Oh you know, like will they race around trying to find *anyone* else who could run and then provide them with support from the shadows to prevent Quist from getting the endorsement? If Quist gets the nod will Sutton-Brodkorb pull the plug on the 1st and divert resources to another District with someone a little less criticized in the Strib…..
