Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Recap From Saturday – Majority Mentality

Gary from let Freedom Ring was also at the event Saturday. You can read his story on it here.

My thoughts on the event make me feel that Emmer is the best choice for Governor. As Legislators, both Seifert and Emmer have very respectable conservative ratings and voting records, but you don’t just vote as Governor. Heck you don’t even get to vote.

I think one of the biggest differences between Emmer and Seifert is the leadership aspect. Emmer isn’t going to sit back and wait for bills to get to his desk. He would not only use the bully pulpit to get good legislation passed, but more importantly to regain majorities and parity in the Legislature so it wouldn’t be a matter of vetoing bad bills.

That is one of Pawlenty’s biggest deficiencies in my mind. His cheerleaders that was/are running the party allowed him to define the “conservative message” but unfortunately to Pawlenty that meant what would make Pawlenty look good, not what the real conservative agenda is.

I am one who believes that things in Minnesota politics, when it comes to Republicans being swept out of office, didn’t have to be as bad as it was. Voters no longer understood what really made us tick, and we were defined by the DFL and media with no one defending our real record or vision. Besides wielding a veto pen, that is the most important portion of having a Republican Governor.

Emmer is a guy who will canvass the state and not back away from defending conservative principles and policies. He will work to build a majority and mentality of voters that they can trust us and actually benefit from a limited government that only Republicans pursuing conservatism can bring.

And that’s the biggest thing we need to have from the top Republican office holder in the state. That man or woman needs to inspire fellow Republicans to stand firm on their principles. And in turn show voters how they will benefit from limited government. Whether it be reducing mandates, taxes, or wasteful spending, to economic freedom and prosperity, only conservatism can restore economic prowess to this state and liberty and freedom to Minnesotans.

I have been an Emmer supporter and seeing Emmer and Seifert in a head to head Saturday galvanized my decision. Emmer has a Majority mentality. He believes that our liberty based limited government conservative ideals are what most people in this state share. That most people do agree that they are better suited to solve their kitchen table decisions that some bureaucrats and career politicians and bean counters in St. Paul could ever be, they just don’t know that Democrats are actually trying to ration prosperity, wealth, and freedom and all with an unhealthy dose of central planning and government control of people’s lives.

Tom Emmer is the best candidate to take on the leadership role in educating voters in Minnesota. He is the best candidate to lead Republicans back to the majority. He is the best candidate for getting Minnesota back on the path to prosperity and freedom.

And yes, the term limit answers were one of the big separators Saturday.

Andy, ironic that you talk about leadership with Emmer. The reality is that after Emmer lost to Seifert in the race to lead the Republicans in the House, Emmer took his toys and went home. Emmer didn’t even have the decency to vote for Seifert for Speaker (he passed) and then boycotted the GOP caucus meetings during the legislative session. This is not leadership you can believe in.

Irony probably also explains how these Legislators have endorsed Emmer too then.

    Bruce Anderson, HD 19A,
    Mark Buesgens, HD 35B,
    Steve Drazkowski, HD 28B,
    Tom Hackbarth, HD 48A,
    Mary Liz Holberg, HD 36A,
    Amy Koch, SD 19,
    Tim Sanders, HD 51A,
    Peggy Scott, HD 49A.

Maybe you should walk down the hallway and tell these Legislators they picked wrong and that the establishment approved candidate is Seifert. Obviously your manure spreading campaign is not reaching all corners of the Capital yet.

Say, is this public information, or would you have to be “in the know” to know this information? I’m curious as to where one can find out who attends caucus meetings and such.

okay, Andy, guess we just disagree as to what defines real leadership. Let’s look at the voting records. Emmer has consistently been against tort reform. Could this have something to do with the fact that he’s a trial lawyer? Emmer also voted against letting Hennepin County residents have a referendum on the Twins stadium. How does Emmer explain that?
