Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

16B Facing the Future – Emmer vs Seifert

I’m up at the Sherburne County event. I’ll try to do some liveblogging as I can.

Stay tuned. We’ll be doing some speeches before we get to the debate. Oh and Congresswoman Bachmann should be here.

3:00 – First off is a welcome from 16B Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer. She’s going through some of the tax increases (as well as some credits they tried to take away) that the DFL tried to pass last session.

Sidenote: The liberal group Alliance for a better MN was here to try to poach some video. They have been tracking Republicans all over trying to do the work that DFL hacks usually do.

3:10 – Rep. Zellers is speaking now.

3:15 – Chair Newberger is telling us stories about the terrible conditions he has seen in countries that had socialized medicine. He has traveled the world and seen hospitals all over and the dreadful conditions and how in some places, they don’t allow the word Cancer to be spoken because they don’t offer any treatment for it, so it is a death sentence.

3:23 – There are 2 Republicans who are running for the State Auditor position state wide offices. We’re going to hear from them now.

Actual CPA Jeff Wiita is first. He’d be the first Auditor who is a real CPA.

Rep. Dan Severson is also running for Secretary of State.

3:30 – Taking some questions for Min. Leader Zellers while we’re waiting for Bachmann.

BTW: I forgot to mention that it is a really good turnout here. I would say that we have about 100 people. But I am terrible at that.

We’re going to switch the schedule and move to Emmer & Seifert. there’s a coin toss to see who gives the 1st opening statement.

Emmer is going first. I’m going to try to get audio.

We’re taking a quick break.

During the break I had a talk with Seifert. We’d emailed this week to discuss some things.

We were interrupted by Congresswoman Bachmann.

Bachmann started her speech off by apologizing for being late for filling out her application for the Nobel prize.

4:40 – Bachmann gave a great speech and took some questions. She talked about her House Call as well as how the right is finally fighting back.

We’re now going to the Q & A for Emmer & Seifert.

I’m going to need to hit the road pretty quick here. We were supposed to adjourn at 4:45.

On one of the questions, we saw a differe3nce. The question was about supporting term limits. Emmer said absolutely and that he will introduce an amendment again. Seifert said that he likes the idea but also pointed out how you will loose some good Republicans. Also pointing out how as Gov. he wouldn’t have a say since Amendments don’t go to the Guv for a signature.

5:00 – I’m going to have to bail now.

Summary, Emmer & Seifert are pretty even on the issues, there may be some differences on details, but the stand out difference is the passion.

The choice between Emmer & Seifert is easy as far as I’m concerned, and the answer to the question of term limits exemplifies that. Emmer says hell yes…..Seifert dithers like a politician, or more correctly like a MODERATE Republican. I am not voting DFL for governor or DFL lite (RINO). EMMER is the true conservative in the race, limited government, term limits, lower taxes, 2nd amendment rights, etc…..in a sentence everything a Republican should stand for. It’s not even close.

    Emmer for MN Governor.
