Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

What’s Up With The PAC Then Pawlenty?

Before we get to the point, let’s get in our way back machine.

The Freedom First PAC “will offer financial support to candidates committed to putting freedom before government, and provide organizational support for Pawlenty to promote his innovative, conservative message,” according to today’s announcement. (Source: Boston.com)

Point: Pawlenty isn’t launching a Presidential campaign, he just wants to help conservative er freedom loving candidates – nod nod wink wink

Now let’s get to the first real big test for the 2012 GOP rumble, now that Pawlenty is all fresh and cozy with the Washington GOP elite.

REDSTATE : Palin Wins. Pawlenty Fails.

Sarah Palin is giving a big endorsement. She’s out swinging for Doug Hoffman, noting he is not a tool of the establishment.

The big loser here is Tim Pawlenty. At the first of this month, he made a great deal out of his new leadership PAC. He made great hay out of going out for real conservatives and not just the same old, same old.

Today there is this:

“You know I haven’t been following that, I haven’t studied the race at all,” he said. “It’s not that I would or wouldn’t, I just don’t know anything about it. I haven’t taken the time to study their positions, their records, so I haven’t taken a position on it.”

That is disappointing and further bolsters the Pawlenty stereotype as milquetoast establishment.

Did you also know he was with John McCain from day one of the 08 primary? That should be all the information you need to know folks.

If Pawlenty isn’t going to use his national presence in the NY 23 race to highlite the real limited government candidate, well, what is he going to use it for?

Pawlenty is a lot more cautious than Palin. He’s also still a Governor. Both things kind of hamstring him trying to make a bold impression on the national stage.

  2. bmetzler says:

NY-23? I’m sure the voters of the district have a handle on who they want to represent them. I’m sure I wouldn’t want NY-23 to have any say over who could represent me in MN-3

NY-23 is the most conservative in the state. Patrick Moynihan retired with this county remaining the only one he never won. The conservatives are handing this one to the Democrats. A strong showing by the conservatives, will weaken the republican candidates support and presto! Democrats pick up another seat.

New Jersey will also stay Democrat. However, the Dems will loose in Virginia with their conservative rube running for governor. Meatloaf said it best, two out of three ain’t bad.
