Let’s Hope They All Get 3 Rifles
After reading the stories about our troops’ rifles failing (**), I have to hope that these guys get to pack a few extra long guns in their packs.
Obama Quietly Authorizes 13,000 More U.S. Troops for Afghanistan
If we are going to have troops in harms way, we owe it to them to give them what they need. (**) My opinion on why the story of rifles failing is that we have small numbers of troops holding bases and positions, now our soldiers are head and shoulders above any in the world, but just because the men and women are the best in the world, it doesn’t mean their equipment can keep up. We have individuals doing what groups would do. That means, a single rifle is doing what a group of them used to.
If 13,000 troops and the right equipment is enough, then great. But if Obama is triangulating his way through the political fallout of the decision here at home, then shame on him. Democrats made holy hay over the troops not having what they needed in Iraq. They can’t be free of criticism. (oh and isn’t it funny that all of a sudden there’s a big rush to get a bunker buster? Didn’t the Dems kill that plan when Bush was Prez? Irony? Politics? )
Either we let them win, or we take them out of harm’s way Obama. If we’re just sending another 13,000 troops to sit on a wall and take fire God help your soul…. It is time to get serious. Do we want to win or lose? (I know what some of you want) It is time to deal with the entire situation and be honest about how there wasn’t a war of choice, as Democrats had claimed about Iraq. That we are engaged in a global war with an enemy that doesn’t honor rules, borders, or humanity.
Either unleash the entire military to take care of business over there so we can win this, or get those boys and girls out of the hell hole before any more of them die while the bureaucrats and politicians take a poll and focus group on how they can use the news for the 2010 elections. Clearly the rest of the world is inept and unwilling to deal with terrorism. It will cause serious problems around the world when it comes to securing nations, but the US cannot be the only nation willing to root out animals hell bent on mass murder and genocide.
Mr. President, either let them win, or bring them home. Stop playing politics with the troops and matters of war.

Let us all spend a few moments today in Honor of those who lost their lives 9 years ago today in the bombings of the USS Cole. May God Bless.
How Quickly We Forget – USS Cole Attack Was 9 Years Ago – Yesterday…
The USS Cole was attacked by terrorists on October 12, 2000. I found a good memorial for the 17 sailors who lost their lives that day. God bless their families.
Thanks to Charlie for pointing this out.
And let’s not forget about something else. …
I may have been wrong in this whole Peace Prize deal. At first I was upset that Obama got it. But if he thinks bringing more troops to Afghanistan is going to bring peace, HE’S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
It’s going to take a concerted military effort, both home and abroad, to finally bring peace to this world.
And Andy, I’ve got an idea. We took a big P.R. hit when Democratic Representative Lesch joined the National Guard:

But I think I know how we get them back. If you sign up for the Guard, and then blog about it, you could do a lot for freedom and the cause of righteousness. What do you think? It wouldn’t even be that hard. Those weekend warriors spend more time drinking beer and playing cards than training to fight our enemies.
And it’s nice to see you Charlie. Keep up the good work.
