Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Value Added Tax- Here’s Your Hope, Obama’s Keeping the Change

Hey look, a brand new way for Government to suck more money away from Americans. But don’t worry, it has a puppies and kittens name – Value Added Tax

With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax.

Common around the world, including in Europe, such a tax — called a value-added tax, or VAT — has not been seriously considered in the United States. But advocates say few other options can generate the kind of money the nation will need to avert fiscal calamity.

Translation- Obama has spent so much money and is committing the taxpayers to so much liability that even GM and Chrysler are blushing. Hence: Obama has no choice but to raise taxes in order to pay for all the handouts and freebies.

Folks, if this ain’t socialism…….

Please try to keep up. Go to http://www.fairtax.org and find out what the National Retail Sales Tax (the FAIR tax) is all about, and why so many conservatives do and should enthusiastically support it. The VAT tax is a Eurosocialist idea, regressive, expensive, complicated, and anti-prosperity, but it does raise a heck of a lot of tax money that the government then fritters away. The FAIR tax is none of those things. Now, if Obama is proposing a VAT tax, as is likely, it will be in addition to the income tax, and should be opposed vigorously for the many reasons cited above. If by some odd “only-Nixon-could-go-to-China” reason he is proposing the FAIR tax to REPLACE all other federal taxes, I say yay!

Pull your head out of your contrarian ass and realize that this wouldn’t be a new way to tax Americans, but rather another way.

This isn’t a debate about the Fair Tax, this is about how Obama and his minions are going to tax the living crap out of every single American in as many ways as possible. So you can yay all you want, but you’re cheering for the death of America.

  3. J. Ewing says:

That Obama would tax us to death, given the opportunity, is a perfectly reasonable suspicion, and if you tell me that he is supporting the Eurosocialist VAT tax, it wouldn’t surprise me, because it is a terrible idea on many levels. But when you tell me he is considering a national sales tax you confuse the issue, because the FAIR tax is RIGHT on many, many levels, including the fact that it is “revenue neutral” while eliminating all other federal taxes.
