I’m here at St. Cloud State sitting next to Gary Gross of Let Freedom Ring. We’re underway here. Congresswoman Bachmann gave brief remarks and now Chris Horner is going through his presentation. People keep trickling in. We started off in a room that could hold 300, we’re now in a much larger room and we’re almost out of chairs.

While we were waiting to get underway, I heard one of the media folks say, “well, the GLBT are here.” Dusty Trice is also roaming back and forth in the back of the hall taping the event. I received an email (complete with some criminal record) earlier this week that he may be coming up here to ambush the Congresswoman. Seems antsy. I highly doubt he’ll do anything but try to video tape himself asking some question.

On the way in, there were a few student looking people holding some signs, they are not allowed in the hall. I think one said something about renewable energy or something. I think there may be some people who try to make fools of themselves, but I think the broader crowd is actually here to hear the presentation.

Congresswoman Bachmann was greeted with applause and so far things seem to be going quite fine.

The “yuths” are getting restless. We’re had a couple of exchanges and someone (seems like the same person) has yelled out a few things. Windpower. Brazil. Europe. The point was Horner asked for a place that gets baseload power from windpower. 

Then the yuth yelled out, “didn’t we got to war for oil” and the non-working folks (college aged kids) starting cheering and applauded, hoot hoot….. Then Horner responded and said that unless you find an alternative to the oil that is required to make the blades on wind turbines, then yes, I suppose you could say we went to war for windpower…. Or something like that. Let’s just say that a much larger portion of the crowd responded favorably then the lame “war for oil” cry.

Now the rowdy yuths are upset that they can’t just blurt out questions. Maturity is on display, or lack there of.
