Pitchfork Mad! – The Travel Tax
I pulled a 12 hour non-stop day yesterday dealing with a frozen up piece of environmentalism gone expensive worthless pain in my ass. More on that later, but let’s say I was dog tired when i did finally get home last night round 9PM. And I am up early today for a CD6 Rules Committee meeting, so well, I’m a bit tired and in a rush.Â
But this one caught my attention and angered me last night.Â
Revenue is not a problem. It can’t be, look at Obama’s budget. Look at his deficits. Look at the spending under bush with the Democratic Congress (an important note people forget, it was 8 years of solid GOP rule).
The corrupt members of Congress, of both parties not all but it is bi-partisan unfortunately, have been siphoning off the highway fund for years for pet projects unrelated to highways. No way in hell should dropping the system be considered under the system is fully implemented. Gas tax should go to roads, bridges, and highways ONLY. No bike trails, no choo choos. Until you put 100% into the roads, bridges, and highways, you can’t say the system failed.Â
And here is the real point of changing the travel tax:Â
Supporters say that a mileage tax would be a more reliable source of funding for the upkeep of the nation’sroads and bridges. Many environmentalists endorse it, saying that it would lead to less driving and less pollution.
They want you to drive less. Got that? Yes, they want to dictate how and where you live your life, work, and play. This is one of those things that gets me pitchfork mad. The reason they want to make it a mileage tax is so that you don’t drive. Wake up America and throw these Fascists off the island.Â
What they are trying to do is unAmerican!
Rationed travel?Â
Not only do they take away some of your hard earned money with out your say at work, now they will tax you to get to and from work.
Not in my America. Â I’m just about pissed off enough now that I may have to do something drastic and run for national office. US Senate, Congress, heck, maybe President.Â

So, they tax gasoline by the gallon, and we do what their taxes command– drive less, and buy smaller cars. Good for my pocketbook, good for “the environment” (so they say), good for less imported oil, yada yada. So having adjusted to all that, they now want to charge me the same to drive my Prius 10 miles to work as they would if I drove my Winnebago? There is a limit to intelligence, certainly, but apparently there is no limit to stupidity.
