Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Welfare Super Train – If You’re Gonna Play Social Engineer, Do It Right

So President Obama’s Trillion dollar spending spree is sending millions and millions and millions of taxpayer dollars around the nation for social engineering projects disguised as mass transit. There is a push from local liberal politicians and bureaucrats to build a high speed welfare train from Chicago to St. Paul.

Well now Minneapolis is trying to route the proposed Welfare super train through their own city.

With $8 billion in the federal stimulus package devoted to high-speed rail projects, supporters of the long-planned high-speed train from Chicago to St. Paul are scrambling to prepare a proposal strong enough to grab some of that money.

But a new player has entered the picture: Hennepin County, which wants the high-speed line extended to Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin convinced his county board colleagues last week to pass by a 6-1 vote a resolution asking that “appropriate proposals” be developed to include Minneapolis in the high-speed route.

“The world changed when $8 billion appeared,” McLaughlin said. “To continue marching to the same drum before $8 billion became available is short-sighted and ultimately will cause problems. …

“This is the moment to be defining the big vision, and we should be defining it expansively. You don’t want to have to go back and beg the federal government to add [Minneapolis] back. It’s just bad strategy.”

You greedy sons of bastages! You are the same morons who have already stolen, yes stolen, $1.5 Billion of taxpayer money from highways to build 2 trains. You’re trying to steal another billion to destroy the Midway/University corridor for another train. Guess what, if the Feds are stupid enough to build the Welfare super train, it would make the Central Corridor lightrail somewhat viable.

I’m sorry, but the world does not revolve around Minneapolis. I know the social engineers who have eroded that city’s draw and prowess with their liberal policies really want everything to run through their back yard to get residual visitors, but it is getting a bit ridiculous now.

I pray Governor Pawlenty steps up and shows some leadership. I pray that he starts to act like a leader in this state and slams this whole idea down as a complete waste of taxpayer money. And I pray he starts to engage in the debate to expose the out of control spending instincts of the liberals who control most local municipalities in the state. They are the ones who hit middle class Minnesotans right square in the wallet.

Don’t forget, this whole Obamulus bill was aimed to take away local control. It opens the door for city and counties to go straight to the Feds and do an end around State governments. Having the welfare train go from Chicago, to Minneapolis, to St. Paul is stupid. The point of having a mass transit system is to build a system that goes all over the place, not to one central point.

Frankly this is all a waste and part of a bigger plan. This is about a war on personal responsibility and the automobile. They want us to go where they think we should. They want us out of our cars.

If Pawlenty lets them build this train and it includes a stop in Minneapolis, the guy has zero credibility as an effective executive. He can forget all about 2012. Harsh, but factually based. He is the Governor and MNDOT is under his control. Time to stand up and fight against waste and corruption Mr. Pawlenty.

Would someone please stand up and fight back against social engineering, the power grab by the Feds, the greediniess of local liberals, and the waste of taxpayer money?

No worries, Andy. Unless they print vouchers for this train no welfare people will use it when they can fly for $50 each way on Southwest.

  2. George Judd Mowry says:

It’s not like it’s real money — it’s only taxpayer contributions to the “greater good”. When are you finally going to accept that we have to step back and build some more 19th Century technology … that nobody (but the elected officials) wants or will use!!
