Is this his common sense gun law he talked about sparingly during the election? He didn’t run on half the socialist crap he is saying he did, but then again, if we had an honest media, he wouldn’t be President now would he. Most of us on the right were telling you Obama was going to be just like he is.Â
I dare Obama to try to take my evil black rifle away. He’ll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. I’m just saying. My home is my castle. Whether he does or not, the 2nd Amendment is the law of the land.Â
I may have to call that friend I know who does bumper stickers.Â

funny, that same thing could have been said about Bush for the last 8 years…
If you’re remember, the previous Assault Weapons Ban banned the purchase of NEW assault weapons. Currently owned assault weapons were grandfathered in.
If for no reason other than the logistical nightmare of doing otherwise, I presume this new version would take the same form.
And therefore as a result, just like the last one, assault weapons would still be available, it’s just there would be a finite supply, in the face of rising demand. Just like last time, you could still get one….if you’re willing to mortgage your house to get one.
I understand the sentiment, and it’s justified. But let’s keep our arguments inside the realm of rational arguments, rather than emotional rants…that’s a field reserved exclusively for liberals.

btw, wasn’t debating the ban, i don’t really care one way or the other personally, even if i see absolutely no need to ever own such a weapon. my usual belief is if you wanna use those types of guns/weapons, join the military, but that’s just me.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with the military, and everything to do with the People. Numerous statements and writings of the Founding Fathers demonstrate that they considered firearms an integral part of a free society. And it is the Second Amendment for a very good reason.
The First is first, of course, because they are some of the defining principles of freedom. The Second is the second, because it is absolutely critical to safeguard the First and all the other rights.
A central government that has nothing to fear of it’s populace quickly becomes tyrannical. I think history both recent and ancient bears that out in every case. While the government has checks and balances within itself to keep one part from overwhelming the others, there is no check against the government itself….save the Second Amendment.
And from your statements that you see no reason to own one, I know you’ve probably never fired one. Quite simply it’s fun.
And there may very well be bigger things to worry about, but knowing that the Second Amendment is there, let me know that at least their is a check on our biggest worry….the government.
again… i grew up in Montana until i was 20, trust me, i’ve shot just about type of gun around, including assault rifles.
i guess i found it fun at first, but i got kinda bored quickly, i dunno, just have different interests/hobbies i suppose.
i realize the second amendment thing, which was long before assault rifles were invented, fwiw. the constitution also had racism and sexism built into it initially too, so there’s that.
