"When the GOP nominates candidates that are “electable” and those candidates betray the core values of conservative voters, there goes the election."

Who, exactly, is this "GOP" that does things the vast conservative base of the GOP doesn't like? If the activists in the party are more conservative than the general Republican voters (and they are), and those activists elect from among themselves representatives-- delegates-- to an endorsing convention, and that convention endorses a candidate, can you really claim that, in the vast majority of cases, that candidate is NOT conservative?

The flaw in this theory is that conservatives like Andy want to believe that if, somehow, the GOP would just nominate conservative candidates they would win easily. Unfortunately, the reality is that the GOP DID nominate, in overwhelming numbers, good conservative candidates and, like this year, something like two-thirds of them lost! And in the cases where the candidate may not be as conservative as some of us might like, that candidate was the only one running for the endorsement. Now, it seems obvious you cannot beat somebody with nobody, and in most cases this year, you can't even beat somebody WITH somebody else. There is more to winning elections than just being conservative, it's time we found it.

The winning GOP candidate needs to convince the voters that the conservative solution is the way to go.
Not by caving because the Strib and the NYTimes might be critical of them.

So you guys think that because Andy didn't put up his very own authentic candidate it's his fault?
What utter BS.
There are lots of us grassroots conservatives at the BPOU level doing our best.
But when the GOP puts forward McCain, Coleman, Bush I and II, Jerry Ford, etc etc etc, just what the eff did you think would happen?
When the GOP nominates candidates that are "electable" and those candidates betray the core values of conservative voters, there goes the election.
Sure blame the demoralized base.
What are needed are candidates who will not only stand for something, but be capable of articulating what they stand for, not empty suits like Norm.

J is right.
So who are the conservative candidates that get put up.
For leadership - where are those conservative leadership - You keep flogging Joe, but he was as much a RINO supporter as anyone (Remember Veterans for McCain)

And for that matter, what defines a RINO.

The so called conservatives, Campaign for Liberty tried to keep John Kline for being reelected - because he was a RINO???

Again - If you don't like Norm - Where was your candidate?
Same for Tim - Sue Jeffers was more conservative who ran against him for the nomination -
Where were you on that issue?

Is AAA a RINO supporter in leadership.

Again, if the problem in MN is bad leadership - then explain the other 50 states where Republicans lost. Every state had loses. I'm not saying that our leadership is best, but this simplistic - Fire the coach and we win - Well, how well did that work for the Vikings.

Make up your mind. On the one hand, you don't think conservatives should be blamed for the Republicans losing, and on the other you want to claim credit for the conservatives for causing the loss. Which is it?

You think we should put up more conservative candidates. OK, who is the conservative candidate that you overwhelmingly powerful grass roots conservatives put up, got endorsed and got elected that was not Norm Coleman? The conservatives you claim to speak for have, IMHO, proven that they can lose elections. Now, how about proving that you can win one? You can't exactly drive forward the conservative agenda by sitting out here in the wilderness whining about us calling YOU names, when you seem to throw the RINO label around so casually.
