Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Senator Stevens Must Resign Now, GOP Senate Must Throw Him Out Yesterday

There is something Senate Republicans could do to define themselves as the party of the people not power. That would be to throw Ted Stevens out of the caucus now that his trail of corruption has finally been treated to justice.

I urge my Republican Senator Norm Coleman (R MN) to call for the Senate Republican caucus to throw Stevens out. It is harsh, but there is no better time to start proving we are the party of accountability.

Please Norm Coleman, show some leadership and throw this guy out. Then promise to call for censure of Stevens and a resolution of no confidence should the Senate return for a lame duck session.

We need to police our own. We need to regain the trust of the people.

Throw Stevens out of the GOP or kiss the party goodbye.

I guess Republicans really ARE “the stupid party.” They would rather that we throw a Republican Senator under the bus quickly, so that a Democrat can steal the seat, rather than wait a week, while the appeals process plays out. Then, IF actually guilty, he can be ousted from the Senate and replaced with a Republican. Republicans love to hold high principles, so much so that they simply cannot grasp political reality. Fortunately for them, the Democrats have no such problem. They would gladly let convicted felons serve if it gave them political advantage.
