Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Dress Code Now Required

A couple people have emailed asking me what the heck (that’s not how they phrased it) the Paulsen campaign is doing attacking Madia because of how his volunteers dressed.

These emails were from conservative women. Young conservative women who were a bit turned off that they’d go so far as to imply these women were sluts.

It is pretty tasteless unless you can prove these women normally dress differently.

Is this just the way Madia has his staffers dress around older men and veterans?

Or

Is this a sign of republicans being stereotypically close minded?

I haven’t looked around the net. Maybe it is out there proving Madia was pandering to Vets with skin.

If not I think someone may owe a few women an apology for attacking them simply for the clothes they wear.

Get the party out of the gutter please. Get back to the issues and stop alienating people who don’t look like you think they should look.

What’s next attcking men for wearing black shoes with a black belt?

Come on. We’re supposed to be better than this.

I read the chatter on this on MDE. Brodkorb posted on this after another blogger (Bill from JofAT) posted on it. I think it was kind of funny that they sent at least one cute (sorry, they didn’t send smelly hippie chicks) young woman who wore a short skirted dress to some AL and VFWs. It doesn’t constitute a “strategy” which is what these bloggers were fishing for. So picking on her clothing was pointless and just likely to confirm the stereotype that Republicans are prudes. The VFW and AL guys look like they don’t mind.

OTOH, I don’t really feel all that sorry for her since, as young as she might be, she should have known better than to post photos on flicker with captions indicating that she thought that the whole gig (and the people) were beneath her. Regardless of how you feel about doing political scutwork, you don’t commit that to print, least of all on the internet. Even high school students know they can be busted by the internet now.

I must be really out of touch. Did I miss something? A press release from the Paulsen campaign? A new ad? How is the Paulsen campaign attacking Madia['s volunteers]?
