Dear Congresswoman Bachmann - Thank You
Posted by Andy on October 3rd, 2008
I want to thank Congresswoman Bachmann for her firm stand trying to defend the average Americans and our freedoms. She’s one of the few in Washington who has real courage. Oh, the local media and Democrats will attack her for voting against the several hundred pet project/tear jerker earmark provisions that were in this bill today, but she did the right thing today.
It is people like Bachmann who still understand what America is all about. I thank her and want her to know that I support her even more than I did before. I’ll be doing everything with in my power for her, since she did that for me on this monstrosity.
Thank you Michele. Thank you for trying to stop this massive bailout of corruption and political cronyism. Thank you for trying to protect future generations from bailing out the current one’s complete betrayal of sound business practices and the trust of the American people. Thank you for trying to stop business as usual in Washington.
We the people, those of us who still believe that freedom is the most important right, we thank you for trying to preserve our cherished gift from God. We may not have won the battle, but we will not let those who let greed and political opportunities erode their judgement and character, win the war. This bill passed only because power corrupts absolutely and weak men and women have grown too powerful in the confines of Government. Unfortunately, this bill gathered more power in the Federal Government, but until they completely shred the Constitution, we the people still have a say.
Our federal government lost the trust of the freedom loving Americans today. It betrayed us by playing politics with the housing markets for decades. It has long since lost its focus and sight of the original design of the founders. It is supposed to be a Government of, for, and by the people, not one that takes away our money and treats the people as an obstacle. Our fellow Americans will soon realize that that if they let politicians and government go unchecked, they will harness power beyond what any human should have.
America is - only because our ancestors once lived under the rule of a corrupt monarchy that rationed liberty, property, and happiness. Our ancestors stood up to unjust rule. Our ancestors stood up and fought for the very freedoms we so hastily take for granted. This bailout bill is an insult to the very things our ancestors fought and died for and it pains me to see people so gleeful today as we watch America eroding away one freedom, one liberty at a time.
This bill turns over unprecedented power to unelected officials. The earmarks in this bill mandate massive private sector costs, pay huge favors to others, and attempt to further intervene in the economy that should be controlled by a free people exercising their free will. Instead our government is taking away freedoms to run a business and likely going to force businesses to lay people off.It is making decisions on what businesses we Americans can buy from or lend from.
Instead of us being an educated consumer, who freely picks the best company with the cheapest price for the value. Mere men with the full force of Government are going to step in and bailout out the failed companies they forced us to use in the first place then hamper the ones who had run a good ship just to save face and insulate their political friends who were running them. All the while we the people, the American taxpayers are on the hook with the financial risk.
This is not the America I know and love. This is not what we are supposed to be doing with our Government. But then again, the people aren’t the ones running our government anymore, are we?
Once again Washington decided it knows best and that the will of the free people is too risky. Having a Treasury Secretary with ultimate power is like having a King. You can’t elect them, but they have control our you monetarily backed up by the force of government. You have no choice but to live with the decisions they make. It is as close to a king as we can get. Taxation with out representation. No freedom to do business under a different set of policies or petition to change the ones you disagree with.
What happened today was that corruption, financial, and political greed won the round. Americans saw first hand just what happens when mere men and women are trusted with absolute power. It has been a few years coming. little by little, people in government took a sliver of freedom here, and nugget from there, and all of a sudden we realize we hardly have any left.
You stood on the right side of this one Michele, and have earned a place in my heart next to Washington, Lincoln, Adams, Jefferson, and the others who fought for the very freedoms we take for granted today. You tried to stand up to the corrupt politicians around you. You tried to stand up to the greedy. You tried to stand up to the government that was trying to dictate to its people.
Thank you Congresswoman Bachmann for having the courage to be a free American and fight for those who could not fight the fight themselves. I’d have loved to be there with you, but the process of the people’s government no longer allows for that. What one individual thinks no longer matters unless they have billions of dollars that is of interest to the corrupt in DC.
I’m proud to have you as my representative in Washington and will do whatever is with in my power and expel every last bit of energy so that you will be there to fight against me the next time that Americans’ freedoms come under assault.
Sincerely, your proud constituent,
Andy Aplikowski

It seems this is an indictment of President Bush (past 8 years) and the Republican Congress (12 of past 14 years). No question they were in charge when all of this was put in play and allowed to occur. The Bush-appointed SEC chairman — a former Republican Congressman — didn’t oversee what was going on.
Essentially, the aforementioned politicians (the government we elected) had the “freedom” to stop this and didn’t police their Wall Street buddies who took reckless risks - and now we have to bail them all out — to the tune of nearly a trillion dollars — or we will do further damage to our economy.
As for this doozy in your screed above: “Our fellow Americans will soon realize that that if they let politicians and government go unchecked, they will harness power beyond what any human should have.”
This just in — We are the government. You can’t say otherwise - and we left the people we elected unchecked - and the people we elected left the Wall Street Greed Gang unchecked. The people we elected to be in charge of the government over the past decade or so didn’t do their jobs. We can and should vote them out, if we think they’ve been “unchecked” and “harnessed” too much power. It’s not “us vs. the bad guys” or “freedom vs. corruption” as you cast it. It’s us paying for the mistakes of a political philosophy that says government should get out of the way — even of unbridled greed. Now, we are paying the price.
It’s unfortunate that a lot of good elected officials now have to pay the price and support the Bush-Paulsen Plan to clean up a mess of their making.
