Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Is There A Reporter In The 6th? – The Real Legislative Process – Bachmann Fighting For Us

Democrat Congressional Candidate El ‘Gas Tax‘ Tinklenberg (MN6) [who just happens to be the previos MNDOT commissioner who failed to look into reports suggesting to replace the gusset plates on the 35W bridge]  may have a lot of knowledge about Government, in the aspect that he has made a very lucrative career out of lobbying various levels of Government for pork barrel projects.

But he doesn’t have a clue in exactly how the whole system works. You see, he is used to just showing up in Washington, greasing a few wheels in members’ officies, testifying before his friend Rep. Jim ‘Pork King‘ Oberstar’s earmark Transportation committee, and jumping on the plane to come home to repeat the steps at the state and local level.

But he doesn’t understand the rest of the story, or should we say process.

Challenger El Tinklenberg said Rep. Michele Bachmann should face her constituents in the Sixth Congressional District and explain her votes, particularly the 95 percent that agree with President George Bush.

Bachmann did not come to the Voters Forum sponsored by the Elk River Citizens League Saturday morning. Her scheduler said she could not come because Congress is in session, “And she will be in Washington doing her job.

I don’t know if you have heard the news yet, but our economy and stock market almost collapsed this weekend and Congress, which Rep. Bachmann is a member to, is working on a bailout/relief package to stabilize the stock markets. That’s the kind of thing that members of Congress have to be present for.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R MN6) just happens to be the opponent of Tinklenberg. She just happens to be responsible for representing the 6th Congressional District residents in Congress. I suppose to Tinklenberg, the Minnesota Transportation Alliance is a much more important constituent group then defending the taxpayers of the 6th from another chance for Democrats to pork barrel spend and play partisan games with crucial legislation.

Tinklenberg and his willing accomplices in the media are trying to hammer home that lie that Congresswoman Bachmann is absent from her District, but the fact is she is representing her District in the mess that Washington is. This bailout/relief package is crucial legislation that could require a vote at any moment. By the time Democrats are done porking it up, it could be bad, it could be good, but you have to be there in order to know. The negotiations taking place on the bill are not going to take care of themselves.

Unlike the earmarks that have made The Tinklenberg group the hero to everyone standing around the pork barrel, meaningful legislation to stabilize the nation’s economy and stock market needs hard work from fiscally responsible Congressmen like Bachmann so that the bill will actually solve the problem, not just transfer more wealth, or worse put the tax payers on the hook for mismanaged financial sector corporations.

I know there are a lot of people with press credentials in the 6th Congressional District, but I see very little evidence of that from scanning the news. I see a lot of people willing to print anything that comes out of Tinklenberg and the Democrat’s press office, but very little real journalism.

Bachmann is working for you in the 6th District. Of course she’d rather be in the 6th District meeting with constituents and residents, but in 2006 we sent her to Washington to do a job. And gosh darn it, duty calls. Given the choice of participating in a panel discussion in front of a room full of pork fed special interests or fighting for the residents and taxpayers of the 6th, I feel she made the right choice.

Keep up the good work Congresswoman Bachmann.
