  • “Preventing the Democrats From Gaining A Veto Proof Majority”

Posted by Andy on August 22nd, 2008

There’s an interesting story in the Strib about some of the Legislative races that have Primary battles. Take a look.

One key portion of it is this from Rep. Jim ‘Hey Let’s Tax Their Arses Off’ Abeler.

Abeler said focusing on relatively minor exchanges misses the larger point — preventing DFLers from gaining a veto-proof majority in the House.

Hey Abeler, you voted to override a veto, you moron! With you around, they don’t need to win that seat.

It is because of YOU, Jim Abeler, that the DFL overrode a veto!

(Note: Abeler’s mention of minor exchanges has to do with him trying to get his lit into the Anoka County Republican booth. It was for ONLY endorsed Republicans, Abeler is not endorsed. He still tried to get his lit in there. The stories on what really happened varies, but Abeler DID cross a line. Because he is an ……

That’s right, why bother electing a Republican. Just let the DFL have that seat. That’s the way to do it.

The DFL already has the seat. Abeler is a tool for the tax and spend liberals.

Honestly Brent. Are you really a Republican? Or are you just a (R)epublican because you’d be too ashamed to admit you love government and think the liberals are right and Government should make people live a certain way?

Every single time I shed light on liberal (R)epublicans who are more loyal to expanding government, removing accountability, raising taxes and spending, and creating a government run blockade of prosperity….. YOU seem to have a major problem with it and add the most childish and useless comments on my blog. And that is saying alot. Eva Young used to comment here. Although, she actually has a problem with taxes and wasteful spending from what I gather. Completely fringe left on some issues, but has some fiscal conservativeness in there somewhere. You, I’vve never heard you argue for a conservative policy, but rather proudly flaunt how you live like a liberal and take offense when I try to stop Government from forcing people to live like you through high taxes and market interventions.

Go find yourself a RINO to hug. Better yet, go find a Democrat, I bet you may actually have more in common with them.

As I tell everyone, if Pawlenty, Coleman, Ramstad and Tinglestad were Democrats, I’d be a Democrat. But they are not, so I am not and the reason should be clear.

Since I’m a Republican, the most important thing to me is defeating DFL’ers and electing Republicans. If we defeat Abeler and elect a DFL opponent to his seat, we have gone backwards, not forwards.

I’d like to have 132 members in the house that agree 100% with me too. But that is simply never going to be reality. So, I always support the candidate on the ballot that agrees with me more then the opponent. For now, it is the Republican.

Unfortunately, Abeler’s primary opponent is not someone I can support simply because Abeler voted for the gas tax bill. Voting for something I disagree with does not automatically mean I support your opponent. The opponent still has to be better then what you are voting against. Abeler’s opponent isn’t, I don’t think he can win in Nov, and therefore, I am supporting Abeler in the primary. I just wish I could get up to Anoka to volunteer for him.

    5. bmetzler Says:

oh, PS. It’s not because of Abeler that the DFL overrode the Veto. It is because in 2006 conservatives failed to reelect members of the house that were conservative, like Phil Krinkie. What did conservatives expect when they didn’t get out there in 2006? That’s not Abeler’s fault.

Except Neil Peterson. He’s an idiot. I don’t like him. It’s his fault too.

Hey Brent, I don’t know you, and have no right to ask a favor, but I’m going to anyway. Please stop reading and commenting here. You obviously don’t agree with Andy and just annoy the rest of us. Plus, we got to hear Andy recite your comment word for word on the way to the science museum and he almost got tossed out of my truck. Mkay? Thanks.

      Andy knows me :(

Every few months I make a pledge to quit reading blogs, I’ve almost quit reading all blogs except Andy’s. It’s too bad, I’m doing so good and then Andy posts something that draws me right back in. So difficult to not read and respond to Andy’s posts. Maybe soon I’ll break free, maybe soon….
