Brent, I double down on my belief of you, you're a complete and total moron!! I am done repeatedly typing over and over how my opposition on Huckabee was based simply, and completely by his positions on political issues. Go away please God since you offer absolutely NOTHING to the discourse here on RF.

Sam,
He suggesting changing it mirror his version of religion. That is exactly what our Constitution protects us from! A religion dominating all others!

Are you two (no don't answer that or any other question on RF ever Brent) actually suggesting it would be ok for one person, whether pastor or not, to abuse his position as the POTUS to change the Constuition to reflect his religion no matter the legal or moral problems with that..... And of course that is coming from a guy (me) who believes in freedom for religion. Which seems to be misunderstood by you.

Huckabee, Obama, hell, Ellison can practice any religion they want, but when they use their positions to push for, advocate for, or worse pass laws or worse rewrite our Constitution so it that would be singularly designed to benefit their religion I sure as hell will oppose it.

Obama wants to be the American jesus. That scares me senseless and why I will do what I can to keep him from winning the race. Frankly, it doesn't make it ok to use laws to force your religious beliefs on everyone else, just because you happen to share the same religious stance.

Andy,
You might want to go reread Doug's column, He points out that "Huckabee must not want the Catholic vote" etc... That's not conservative concern - That's Religious bigotry.

Mitt wasn't you guy - Do you read your own blog - Once Thompson was gone you couldn't help but gush over that "Amazing Conservative Mitt Romney."

Religious bigotry of any kind is wrong. Just wished you had been as concerned when it was repeatedly pointed out to you months ago.

In addition a minor note, your constitution argument is a little weak. Huckabee suggested changing the constitution, so what the constitution says is irrelevant - He proposed amending it.

are trying to pretend that Mike Huckabee didn’t interject his faith and position as a pastor in every single moment of his candidacy.

There you go again bringing religion into the discussion about Huckabee. You just can't get past it, can you. You don't like Huckabee for being a Christian Pastor, other people don't like Romney being a Mormon. Same difference. Everyone has the right to their own opinion as far as I'm concerned.

As far as you seem concerned, it is ok for people to question Huckabee's religious views, but off-limits to question Romney's religious views.

All I'm saying is that if you refuse to vote for a person based solely on the religion they practice, and nothing else. THEN YOU ARE A BIGOT. Oh, wait, that's what you are saying. The only difference is that you think it is ok when it is someone you don't like, but not ok when it is someone you do like.

You 2 are just absolutely flapping amazing.

Here, let's try this. My guy was Fred Thompson you morons. (note: I said moRONS, NOT!!!! MorMONS) If I thought you 2 were idiots based solely on your choice of Religion, then I would be a bigot. I am questioning your judgement as political commenters based solely on the lameness of your attacks and cowardice of hiding behind Religion to lash out at another's Religion.

Revisionist fricking history only Obama could be proud of. Even Bill would have a funny feeling in his gut with the way you 2 are trying to pretend that Mike Huckabee didn't interject his faith and position as a pastor in every single moment of his candidacy.

Go back and look at the Pastor in Chief arguments all you fricking want. The point of them was that if we were simply going to be electing the President on who was the best sermon giver or who knew the bible more then the others, then it was like.... wait for it!!! .... eklecting a Pastor in Chief.

I restate, you 2 are morons, and I am a fool for even trying to put up with your moronism .... (Note again: I said moRONisn, NOT!!!! morMONism. )

I sure hope you're also wasting the time of the conservative pundits who call Obama, the Obamessiah as well since this is also a biggoted Religious attack.

And once again, if you refuse to do business, hire, sell to, talk to, walk near, and vote for a person based solely on the religion they practice, and nothing else. THEN YOU ARE A BIGOT.

but rather based on his liberal populist Big Government views.

Wait, I thought you were against him because he was, in your words, "suggesting we change the constitution to favor a religion." I don't remember anyone calling him HuckaBIGgovernment. It was all religious attacks.

Oh, since I've made several posts now and you don't see to be getting it, let me repeat it in ALL CAPS!

JUST BECAUSE ROMNEY IS A MORMON DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE HAVE TO VOTE FOR HIM.

Just because someone says they won't vote for your candidate you get all bent out of shape. Well, get over it.

Andy,
The Pastor in Chief were your words.
And before you defend your buddy Doug, do a quick goggle on HuckaJesus on his blog - it was about Huckabee religious beliefs, not just defending the constitution.
(And a short note, if someone things are nations law are morally wrong, what would you have them say - I will appoint judges to fix it or I will work and change the constitution, shows a deep respect for our country)

As Brent said, where was your concern for religion tolerance before. This is about your guy getting attacked. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sad when Brent is the one making rational arguments here.

Honest to God, if you just read what people write, by gosh, someday you just might figure out what they are saying.

No seriously, if you think Doug is a Religious biggot, then you may actually be in the wrong party. Sounds to me like you are perfectly fine with a Theocracy, but our COnstitution was designed to prevent that very thing.

Do you even understand the concept of the Constitution?

Freedom FOR Religion, not Religious tests, and dictation of laws down from God.

Huckabee is a hack populist politicians who is pandering for Religious votes now that he is on teh national stage. People like me (and Doug) and the 90+/- some odd % of other Minnesota Republicans were not doing so out of biggoted views, but rather based on his liberal populist Big Government views.

I feel dumber even trying to explain this to you, but I'll type real slow so hopefully you can follow along.

JUST BECAUSE HUCKABEE WAS A PASTOR, DOESN'T MAKE IT A DECREE FROM GOD THAT WE ALL HAVE TO SUPPORT HIM. IT DOESN'T REMOVE THE RIGHT FOR US TO QUESTION HIS CONSERVATIVE CRED AND EXPOSE HIS LIBERAL TENDENCIES. JUST BECAUSE HE IS A SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE DOESN'T ERASE HIS LIBERAL JUDICIAL, CONSTITUTIONAL, AND FINANCIAL STANCES ON CRITICAL ISSUES FOR AMERICA

It is amazing at how sensitive you get when Liberal Republicans are exposed for not being the principled conservatives they portray themselves at.

Yeah, and if someone doesn't want to vote for someone who is a mormon, what is that to you? Doug doesn't want to vote for a Baptist Pastor, and another voter doesn't want to vote for a mormon. A third voter probably doesn't want to vote for a Catholic.

You are the one who has said "Religious tolerance should be the goldstandard." Apparently it should only be the 'goldstandard' when you approve of it. Otherwise religious intolerance is right up your alley.

Brent, I hate to break it to you but you're an idiot. Doug was not attacking religion, he was defending the damn Constitution from one form of Religion dictating the laws of this land.

Religious intolerance is religious intolerance whether you like it or not. Don't make a post berating other people's religious intolerance if you believe that your religious intolerance is ok.

One man's problem with Christians is another man's problem with Mormoms. What can I say?
