  • A Life Less Filling - No Thanks

Posted by Andy on August 12th, 2008

So gas is getting less painful to buy nowadays, but don’t think the crisis is over. Due to a stronger dollar and American’s using less, the price of oil is down. But, if it keeps going down the behavior spurred from the high prices will be short lived.

Sooner or later, if prices continue to fall, people won’t be restricting their driving, buying tin can cars, and forgetting about those lazy weekend drives up to the lake to boat and fish. Yes, oil consumption will go back up, and with out an adequate supply, so will the price again.

We do still need to drill here. The other option is to continue to live our lives less fillingly than we did in the past. That means yesterday may be the greatest our lives ever were.

Even if consumption were to stay lower, that just means that oil we could produce here would be a higher percentage of what we consume, meaning that we’d have even less demand on foreign oil.
