Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Pawlenty Breakfast For Sanders

This morning Governor Tim Pawlenty headlined a fundraiser for Minnesota House candidate Tim Sanders in Blaine. It was a breakfast event thrown together with class, professionalism, and great success. There was a great showing and tons of support for Sanders.

Sanders is running in Minnesota House District 51A which covers most of Blaine, a northern suburb of the Twin Cities. The seat had been in Republican hands for 8 years before Former Rep. Andy Westerberg retired and Democrats took advantage picking up the open seat during the tsunami of 2006. DFLer Scott Kranz won, but after his first year, decided that thing were too political for him, so he decided to retire and has since moved out of the District.

Sanders has built one of the biggest and best run campaign organizations I have seen for a House campaign in some time. In the Blaine parade last weekend, he had what seemed like 40 or 50 volunteers walking the route with him. Sander’s fundraising and doorknocking are well ahead of schedule and far outpacing his Democrat opponent.

Sanders is the perfect balance of common sense and passion for the Legislature. House District 51A is one of the seats that is very likely going to switch parties this election. Democrats are hungry to increase their majority so they can override a Govenor veto on a party line vote. Winning this seat back would be going in the wrong direction as far as the tax and spend Democrats are concerned.

There’s a lot of confidence that Sanders has a great chance in this race of picking up the seat and decreasing the Democrat majority. Proof of that would be Governor Pawlenty’s appearance today on his behalf. The Governor is doing just a handful of these fundraisers for Minnesota House candidates I am told, and this is a seat Republicans are confident to win back.

Keep an eye on Sanders and 51A this election. He’s determined to put this seat back in Republican hands so that someone with common sense, fiscal restraint, and person responisbility represents Blaine at the Legislature.

Sanders is one of those candidates I was talking about in this post (Change We Can Work For – Oh Yes We Can!!!). You can volunteer and donate via his website. The more he gets, the better his chance of winning are. An hour, a few bucks, it all helps ensure the voctory in November.
