Let He Who Is Free Of (Financial) Sin Cast The First Stone
This one has been chattering around the lefty blogs for a while, I didn’t want to point it out, but now it hits the Strib for all to see.Â
State GOP has its own bookkeeping woes
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Al Franken will not get Norm Coleman reelected. Focus on why people should vote FOR Republicans and there is no need to worry about this sort of touché  ’journalism’.Â
I sure hope we (Republican activists) finally get some answers to this crap at the State Central Meeting set to take place immediately following the State Convention in Rochester. Unanswered questions do nothing but leave questions unanswered. If there is nothing left to ‘correct’, why not make the corrections that were done in a timely manner available for all to see?Â
Put this baby to bed now rather than leave this crap for an October surprise that would potentially harm our MN House candidates and let Franken off the hook/hurt Sen. Coleman.Â

First, I agree that at State Central, the Treasurer better get up and say “This is over, we have done X and now everyone is happy”;
But let us not forget where the Star Tribune got all those leaked internal MN GOP documents.*
Good old Joe Repya, who I hear is going around the state like he is running for office, trashing the MN GOP.
We have enough issue with the DFL, without folks supposedly on our side working with the Star Tribune hurting the cause.
The time to have this argument is Wednesday, November 5th (and a small private one at State Central).
I wish some folks would stop running for power and think what there actions are doing to the party.
I may not always agree with Andy, but at least most of what he does is not to gain some political office – or if it is, he is very bad at it since he seems to make everyone on both sides of both parties mad at one time or the other.
We don’t win by just pointed out how bad the other side is – but we sure aren’t going to win by helping them create stories about how bad our own side is.
*(And again It wasn’t Andy – someone gave them to him but he was wise enough not to hurt the party by sharing them)
Sam,
Your comment that I leaked internal party documents to the Star Tribune is untrue and libellous. Show the world what proof you have to support your claim and identify yourself. Neither will happen because you are a liar and a coward!
Sorry for the imprecise nature of my comment.
Joe Repya did not directly leak the documents nor did anyone part of his “personal campaign staff” leak.
However, as was widely reported in political publications, the source was associated with Repya and his campaign.
A quick google search will link to sources the information.
Again, great discussion to have with delegates and at party meetings.
Not information to be having press meetings with Star Tribune.
I have a much better idea. How about Carey and crew start running a tight financial ship and clear up all these matters immediately….. that way we don’t have to talk about this crap “behind closed doors” as you demand.
This is no one’s fault but Carey. He runs the party. He controls everything. He is to blame for this even being a story.
Oh and for some reason all that talking behind closed doors in the past which brought us promises to address everything, HASN’T WORKED! We can talk til we’re blue in the face, but will it solve the credibility problem the Chairman is branding the party with?
Sam,
Let me get this straight. Last night you wrote:
“But let us not forget where the Star Tribune got all those leaked internal MN GOP documents.*
Good old Joe Repya, who I hear is going around the state like he is running for office, trashing the MN GOP.”
Now you write:
“Sorry for the imprecise nature of my comment. Joe Repya did not directly leak the documents nor did anyone part of his “personal campaign staff†leak. However, as was widely reported in political publications, the source was associated with Repya and his campaign”
I’m not letting you off the hook here. If you are going to attack me directly or indirectly “associated with Repya and his campaign” as you have in your two posts with these kind of charges, you better expect that I will legally explore every option available to make your little miserable life even worse!
If you are going to defame someone, you better have proof that will stand up in a court of law! Spreading rumors and innuendo does not make a statement true. If you know who “by name” gave the Tostenson memo to the Star Tribune and can prove it in a court of law, it is your duty to step forward and identify yourself and produce your evidence. Otherwise you are spreading rumors and are legally libel for your actions. I’ll remind you that statements on the internet can be traced by your IP address and courts have held statements damaging in civil legal cases.
So if you are smart, since you appear to have no proof to back up your claims, your next post better be one big apology and hope that that I accept it. My guess is that you can’t afford protracted legal expenses based on what you are being paid in Saint Paul.
I apologize.
Numerous people who were associated with your campaign stated they had the documents.
More than one Twin Cities Political News source stated that the source of the materials was someone associated with your campaign.
But you have said it was not true – so I believe you.
We know that you would not trash the party or hold news conference to trash the party.
I am sorry I repeated the news articles implicating your campaign.
Please don’t send Wally the Beer man after me.
Sam,
Apology not accepted.
You still claim people associated with my campaign were responsible for the Tostenson Memo. You claim but can’t supply a link to the reputable “Twin Cities Political News sources” that reported someone associated with my campaign was the source of the Tostenson memo material. Until you name the names and supply the actual links to the news sources you are only a rumor-munger or a liar.
I have never seen or heard of any article by any reputable news agency that tied the release of the Tostenson memo to me or my campaign. Ron Carey’s paid political goon squad and Michael Broadkorb were responsible for perpetuating those outrageous lies and rumors during the State Central race.
Once again, you better have proof that will stand up in a court of law! Spreading rumors, lies and innuendo does not make your statements true. You have attacked my honesty and character and still have offered no proof to the libelous post you have made on this site.
If you do not produce evidence to substantiate your claims, I’m willing to take legal civil action to expose who you are and show that you work for the MN GOP and have posted some of this tripe during your work hours. With all the media and legal problems your employer Ron Carey allegedly has, I’m sure he will be glad you added more opportunities for the media to do stories on the MN GOP before the National Convention.
I’m giving you one last chance to redeem yourself and save yourself from the public media embarrassment and possible civil legal judgement that will follow.
I suggest your next post state that you 1. you apologize unconditionally for your statements, 2. that you state you have no proof but only rumors to back your claims,
3. that you sincerely ask the readers of this site to accept that your statements were wrong, not based in any truth of fact, and politically motivated as an personal attack against Joe Repya and other fellow Republicans who did not support Ron Carey.
4. And finally, for the sake of party unity you will suspend any further posting or discussions on the matter of the State Central election and the Tostenson memo.
Don’t count on the MN GOP giving you money for your legal assistance and Wally the Beer Man is the least of your worries at this point.
1) Accusing me of working for the MN GOP. That’s just wrong.
I don’t tie my self worth to having a government legislative or political job. And I would hope that the party is not wasting their time reading this blog.
But since you asked so nice.
With all sincerity:
1. you apologize unconditionally for your statements, (Thought I did that but here it is again)
2. that you state you have no proof but only rumors to back your claims, (again, did you read what I posted above. Secondary sourced not first, but here it is again)
3. that you sincerely ask the readers of this site to accept that your statements were wrong, not based in any truth of fact, and politically motivated as an personal attack against Joe Repya and other fellow Republicans who did not support Ron Carey.
(Actually don’t care about Ron and I don’t think it was pointed at anyone other than you but if you felt that way, stated again. Again, the statements were based on published reports and I had no reason to doubt them any more than any other published report. You state that they are not true and as I posted above “you have said it was not true – so I believe you.”)
4. And finally, for the sake of party unity you will suspend any further posting or discussions on the matter of the State Central election and the Tostenson memo.
(I will and would request the same of you are your supporters.)
Are you and Wally happy now.
“However, as was widely reported in political publications, the source was associated with Repya and his campaign.”
Really Sam????? I did a quick Yahoo search “Tostenson Memo Joe Repya” and I came back with a grand total of 5 hits – two to Lloydletta’s Newz – hardly a reputable news source. Another was AAA, the 4th was to a PIM (the only reputable news source) piece talking about the pending chairman’s election and they laid the blame for the memo being leaked directly to Mr. TOSTENSON himself and the last was to MNPublius. A quick Google search brings up RECENT entries from MNBlue, Llyodletta (again) and Blue Man in a Red District. So are you telling us that your prime source of political news is the LEFTY BLOGS?
LL
This is about the funniest thread I’ve ever read. Is this some sort of joke?
Sadly no Brent. Sam is making some pretty egregious accusations based solely (as far as I can tell) on info he got from left blogs. I’m still waiting for him to come up with a REPUTABLE news source to base these accusations on, but I’m not holding my breath.
