No animosity out of me Marianne....just looking for a healthy dose of perspective FROM BOTH SIDES. I've chided many who are suspicious of the Ron Paul supporters to not treat all of you as the enemy, but I expect the same from YOUR SIDE and honestly we don't get it.

Set your BS deflectors to maximum RF readers.

What say you about this? Yes, this here, the key to why so many of us aren't willing to just turn the party over to a bunch of newcomers.

I suppose somehow someone somewhere that has puts years in at the grassroots level of the GOP is lying about this one too.

There were lies at the Sixth District, but not from the Ron Paul Republicans. Guys, I'm losing a lot of respect for you as much as I really want to get along. I know I'm repeating myself, but happy to clarify again. The candidates for delegate whom I spoke with said they were asked if they would support McCain. They clarified with the NomCom questioner that they would AFTER the nomination. What is your interest in tearing down good Republicans who are out there working for the party? We need MORE voters, not fewer!

LL, there ARE some new people who came in for Ron Paul, and the breakdown is different by district. But many of us are old hats in the GOP. I honestly don't know the percentages. So is it good or bad that people are coming in to the GOP? Is it good or bad that many of us who've been here a while want to preserve what is good about our party?

I'm not here to fight and honestly don't understand the animosity.

Here is what a Paulbot wrote on the Strib blog today;

"I am a Republican delegate to the state convention held in Rochester. I am a Ron Paul supporter. Anyone have any suggestions regarding how to tackle the party at this convention? I refuse to back McCain."

Marianne, why would someone get involved in party politics if they can't get behind the party's candidates? You've been around enough to know that unity is what makes a party effective. And the line, "tackle the party"? What the hell? How about thinking about ways to tackle the leftist DFL agenda? So the Republican Party you caucused with is now your adversary? It is SO obvious that being effective is NOT what the Paulbotz care about!

I'm sorry to say it, fellow true Republicans, but this party is under attack by a well organized insurgency bent on throwing us out of our own party for their own narrow ends. These people will lie, cheat and steal in order to get what they want and have no desire to practice the give-and-take statesmanship required in order to govern. Better wake up before the State Convention, people! The camel's nose is already in the tent and the rest of him's commin'!

realized my attention would be better spent getting solid people elected to the State and US Houses so that we have votes to stop the bad policy we all hate.

It's not just getting votes to stop bad policy. The GOP needs a majority to enact good policy.

Just having a "conservative" governor or president, if that were possible, would not make a conservative government.

Marianne - YOU personally may have worked for "decades" within the party but you simply can not deny that a vast majority of the Ron Paul supporters this were first time REPUBLICAN PARTY caucus attenders. They have admitted it (at least down here in the 2nd District they have...)

I guess there were no specific rules against lies and deception at the CD6 convention, so I guess you are correct, Marianne.

Judd, you know that many of us have been putting years, decades of work into this party. We played 100% by the rules in the Sixth District. It was a couple of guys at the head who tried to change the rules on the delegates. Please don't twist the story.

It is incorrect that there was a plan to "divide" a Party, as they've never been a member of it before ... and don't endorse its views. That makes it exceptionally difficult for a zealous, exceptionally well organized group to have any lasting imprint on the grand scheme of things. Let them have a chance to disrupt the process -- we saw it first hand in the Sixth Congressional District; but, when a Congressional District is better prepared (as was the Third CD), a vocal minority is strictly that. Now that the people who have been doing the grassroots effort for many years are aware of the tactics being employed, the Minnesota Republican State Convention should not resemble what transpired in Nevada. I would like to be proven wrong ... but we shall see the effort that the Ron Paul Revolution supporters put into working to elect endorsed Republican candidates this Fall.

As AAA knows, Senator McCain was not my first (or even second) choice, but he is going to be the nominee and it is time to unite behind him. I can't even envision (unfortunately, I can) the path that either of the two remaining democratic candidates would pursue.
