  • AAA At The White House With His Holiness (And 10,000+/- Other People)

Posted by Andy on April 16th, 2008

I’m at Ronald Reagan Airport waiting for my flight home and thought it would be cool to throw up a few pictures from today. These are from the Pope’s greeting at the White House.

(Click on the pics to enlarge)

Here’s myself, Carrie (my girlfriend), and Republican Party of Minnesota Deputy Chair Dorothy Flemming.

Carrie was impressed with W’s lawn. So much so that she had to go barefoot.

The crowd was huge and it seemed every giant there was directly infront of us. These were taken with my hands straight up over my head.

This is during the National Anthem.

Here’s right after President Bush introduced the Pope.

Here’s one from when the Pope was addressing the crowd.

Here’s one as the Pope finished his remarks and the crowd and President Bush were applauding.

And this one may be one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken. After the bands and choirs left, the President, First Lady, and Pope went up onto the White House balcony for the entire crowd to see.

I have a ton more pictures from the trip, as does Dorothy. Following the event I went to a Catholic’s for McCain event hosted by Sen. Brownback and I even got to meet Cindy McCain. I’ll get more of them posted when I get home. (or more likely tomorrow as we are probably going to be getting back to the Twin Cities around midnight tonight. )

I also have a lot of thoughts about this incredible trip. I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to post hardly anything, but I will get to it as soon as possible.

Please stay tuned. And thank you again to everyone who made this great trip possible!
