Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

That Was Then….

I have been diametrically opposed to John McCain being the Republican  Presidential nominee for 4 years. But……
John McCain now IS my candidate, and he will be on the ballot against either Hillary who promises to garner my wages to pay for entitlement and nanny state programs and has a record of balancing the budget on the back of the military.
OR Obama who is going to stop just short of Hillary on the Domestic front (if my liberal rhetoric decoder ring is correct) but he has promised to fight the war on terror with a fax machine by sending “strong statements” when sitting down face to face with tyrannical dictators and thugs won’t work.
Despite my differences with McCain, he is whom I will vote for in November.

I don’t want to worry about who will answer a “red phone” to respond after the next terror attack on America. I want a President who will force those who wish America harm to be running and hiding, not plotting their next attack.

Our enemy doesn’t have a very long list of demands. In fact, it is just one. An end to America. Some may be fine with that if there is some “peace” involved first.

For me, the best thing I can provide for the next generation in the ‘08 election is a President who will make sure there is an America left for them to take over when this generation is done playing politics and “believing in change” or was it “hoping”……

Ah, you came around finally! Next step: Senator Coleman

Andy, your a better man then I. I just can’t, as of yet get myself to vote for this guy. Personally, as much as I hate to say it, I think a devistating 4 year recession is what may be needed to wipe out a majority of these nanny staters for another 20 years.

Mac’s policies might give us that same recession, yet place the blame on conservatism.

Andy, I love how you fight for your principles first. I also greatly appreciate you now stating that this is heading for a binary choice & that the only real option is voting for & supporting John McCain, who has shown his resolve in killing the jihadists. There isn’t a snowball’s prayer in hell that I’d vote for anyone that isn’t serious about that matter.

  4. Titan – I understand your frustration, however when faced with a choice between Socialists Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama and John McCain….there is no choice if you are a conservative.

I am responding late, so my guess is this will never be read. Regardless, Too say that “there is no choice” is like saying that if Abler or any of the other five turncoats end up losing their endorsement but win their primaries, I have no other choice but to support them.

Sorry but I am sick of supporting politicians I have to later defend. Coleman, Pawlenty, even Bush have disappointed me so many times I seem to end up being an enabler.

LL, I have been reading your commentary for months. I have huge respect for you, your love of liberty and freedom is obvious. I have that same love. Believe me when I say I am very torn. I am weighing the consequence of a vote to enable or to protest.

Considering McCain will never win in this loony state, a protest write-in vote is very tempting. One thing that is certain is my lack of enthusiasm which translates to no money or volunteerism. Looking at Feb’s contribution numbers, proves that feeling is wide spread.

I take no glee in any of this, the fact is that this whole episode is a complete debacle and my only hope is we have a country left after it’s all sorted out.
