  • Municipal Welfare Allowed For Sanctuary Cities

Posted by Andy on March 7th, 2008

Here’s a link to the list of Legislators and their votes on the Seifert Amendment to bar Municipal Welfare to cities that are Sanctuary Cities for Illegal Immigrants.

    Amendment defeated
    March 3, 2008 (HF3201)

An amendment that would provide local government aid only to cities that allow law enforcement officials to check immigration status failed, 66 votes to 67.

    Result: Rejected

That’s right, can’t cut off the gravy train for cities that allow illegal immigrants to roam free, and prohibit law enforcement officials from even trying to determine if they belong in this country.

Be careful relying on the voting record.
Go watch the actually vote and you will see a bunch of those first term suburban DFLers lights either blank or red until right before the vote was closed.
Once they had the 67 votes, they swarmed to green.
So just because you see a yes by your guy, don’t assume he actually voted the correct way.
