First They Ban *Their* Cups, Then YOUR Cups
Yesterday we saw the war against plastic bags come to the Minnesota Senate, today we see it has become a two front war on consumerism and marketing, freedom, and sanitation rights.
It looked like a no-brainer when the leadership of the Minneapolis City Council recently decided not to buy any more paper cups for the roughly three dozen elected officials, aides and secretaries who work there. Taxpayers had purchased at least 3,000 cups in the past year for the council, for a cost of at least $360.
Yep, the Minneapolis City Council will no longer buy, let a lone use, paper or foam cups. That’s right if you have a meeting at the Council, you better bring your own cup, or be prepared to share a mug that has been used by dozens if not hundreds of others. [shudder]
His resolution for a mug-only policy asserts vast energy and waste advantages for ceramic over paper and polystyrene. “This may seem silly to some, but it isn’t when you multiply it by billions,” said Council Member Paul Ostrow.
And that’s what should scare the living American out of you. You are next. Just imagine going to McDonald’s, Caribou, or if you vote lefty and drive and Audi at Starbucks on Sunday morning after Church and not getting a cup of coffee, unless you buy their $4 travel mug or bring your own filth laden one with you. And we all know that travel mug in the back of our cars hasn’t been washed in weeks, so how is that going to be sanitary when the coffee pot comes in contact with it when they fill it up.
Honest to God we had better get a damn grip on the non-sense that Government is engaged in. Banning cups. Banning plastic bags. Everyday it is another case of freedom, choice, and convenience being taken away.
The era of disposable cups and bags came about due to disease. No one wants to share glasses with complete strangers. No one wants to pray that that person actually washed that mug good enough after the last person used it with whatever bug they have. [double shudder]
Knowing the limits of their power, council members didn’t act to ban paper and plastic throughout City Hall, although they’re hoping for a trickle-down effect. “I think we’re leading here by example,” Ostrow said.
If they don’t have the power to do so, then why in the world are they even discussing it, and wasting taxpayer’s time and money even talking about it?
Because they can!
If we don’t wake up real damn quick in this Metro area, this state, and this country we are going to lose far more than choice and options, we’re going to lose our freedoms and liberties to a bunch of do gooding nannyslaters.
Wake up America. You do have the power to stop the insanity!

But it FEEEEEELLLLLSSSS good….
What they don’t take into account is all of the ENERGY that is wasted washing and sanitizing those reusable mugs…..

Sanitize? Who said anything about having to sanitize? Besides, those chemicals are all bad for mother Earth.
Actually, I wish they would confiscate those awful Solo cups at Starbucks and Caribou. The slightest bump sends hot coffee shooting out the top. I get coffee once a week at McDonalds and recently started saving their cups which are of better quality and don’t slosh. Hopefully I can accumulate a few before they are outlawed.
