Double Secret Probation!
I’m sorry, but I am just not very impressed with the move by Rep. Seifert.
SAINT PAUL — (February 26, 2008) — State Representative Marty Seifert today announced the six Republicans who voted to override Governor Tim Pawlenty’s veto have been removed from their leadership positions.”I have spoken with all six members and received their resignations from their lead positions on House committees and in the Caucus,” said House Republican Leader Marty Seifert. “I respectfully ask the House Democrats to respect our decision on this internal caucus matter.”
A source told me this is the first move and there is more to come if need be.The need be was yesterday. The time for punishment is now. We either rehabilitate them or vote them out of the Caucus just like Mark Olson. Chriminies, Olson was a rockstar on the Transit tax bill. And what does he get, (IR) he paid his debt and can legally serve. And he does a hell of a lot better than any one of those 6 with his arms teid behind his back. But nope, these 6 get their slap on the wrist with no real reprimands.Â
(photo via)I calculate the wrist slaps cost only about $1.1 billion dollars each.(Yes, that is an elephant using a toilet. My caption is not very PG)Â Â

I feel sorry for Mark Olson, but it’s a totally different situation, Andy.
If Marty thinks any of these guys can be rehabilitated enough to vote the right way for the rest of the session on at least some of the dreadful stuff down the road, he’s doing the right thing. I am guessing that some of them will just start caucusing with the Democrats, formally or informally rather than admit that they are wrong at all. Good riddence.
It is never too early to say goodbye.
It is never too early to say goodbye.
That’s the attitude Andy! Show the people of Minnesota that we don’t have to stand for who they elect.
Ahh, no we don’t have to stand by a politician just because we elected them. Especially when we repeatedly demanded a different votes, this is not the first, second, third or fourth bad vote these elected officials have made. Clearly educating them on conservative principles did not work.
We can’t vote them out right now but we can sanction them in other ways like no endorsement, refusing financial support, and losing other privilages given them. These 8 RINO’s should be shown the door. Now.
Bmetzler…I don’t know who you are but you really sound like an ass…if you have a question ask it, if you just want to leave snide comments go somewhere else. If you are just confused give me a call, I am very good at educating people on conservative principles.

PS Sorry Andy, but some people don’t realize they sound like stupid pathetic jerks. Keep up the good work!
Ahh, no we don’t have to stand by a politician just because we elected them.
We don’t have to stand someone just because they are elected from our district, but I don’t think that we can or should go and tell others who *they* can stand by. If someone votes for a particular candidate they made that choice for a reason and should be respected. To go later and say that they made the wrong choice and should be “punished” for their choice of candidate I think is inappropriate and ill-advised.
That is the point I have been trying to make. I should be the one to decide if I made the wrong choice supporting a particular candidate, not a 3rd party representative from a completely different district.
If you are just confused give me a call, I am very good at educating people on conservative principles.
I doubt that I am confused, and I’m pretty sure that Andy’s unlikely to be able to follow through on anything he’s saying. Still, it does call into question, why should I waste time, effort, and money supporting a GOP candidate in my district when if they win they can be told that they won’t get any committee seats, any leadership posts, or whatever other punishments certain people might think up? I may as well not even bother. Every other delegate ought to consider the same thing. After all, Andy might not always be the loud person on the block.
Brent you can support the candidate of your choice. Frankly I think you may want to reevaluate your affiliation due to your distatste for conservative principles.
That being said, when a candidate seeks an endorsement by a party, and asks to caucus with others of that party when elected, there are certain expectations. If there is to be no accountability, then America is lost. We have finally destroyed our Republic.
Frankly I think you may want to reevaluate your affiliation due to your distatste for conservative principles.
I distaste Democrats even more. And until this year conservatives have been perfectly happy letting me be district officer and delegate to where ever I want. Our district convention is this Saturday, and I’ll see if conservatives have a different choice this Saturday. If conservatives want my delegate slots for any position in the next two years I’ll gladly let them take it. But so far, so good for me again.
Anyways, I’m only concerned about one form of accountability. That to the people who endorsed or elected you 2 years ago. That’s something I agree with Abeler, this shouldn’t be a career, you serve the people who elected you until you don’t.
You serve the people who elected you until they choose someone else to represent them, that is what I meant to say.
ROFLOL…..The Junior Logician just happened to walk by my computer as I was reading this. He will have nightmares for a week. Thanks so very much for that picture…….
May the fleas of a thousand camels sleep in your tent tonight!

I am happy to say that the conventions I have already attended so far have been full of new faces and lots of energy to put conservatives back in charge.
The tide is turning and I for one am thrilled excited to help pick up the pieces. We have lots of work ahead of us but the cause is just. We won’t lose elections with solid conservative candidates and more are stepping forward every day.

Sue – I have to agree based on the emails that I am getting from my new (and old) delegates. They are fired up and ready to do what needs to be done to take back the House from the DFL and the “squishies”. It is possible that we could lose 41A and B but we will take back the suburban seats that we lost in 2006.

I thank it would be fun to phone your local DFL representative and say “thank you, thank you, for voting for this transit bill. I’m sure it will be a very popular topic of discussion in November.” And if it isn’t, Republicans aren’t half the elephants they ought to be.
