Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Ron Paul Robo-Calls – You Don’t Need to Be a Republican….

I got a call late this afternoon that Ron Paul is doing robo-calls to at least one SD51 household. the recorded message says that you don’t need to be a Republican to participate in Precinct Caucuses. While technically true, each and every precinct has the right to challenge a caucus goer’s merit of participating. (the person is going to try to get me a transcript, I will add it when it comes through)

202A.16 CAUCUS, WHO MAY PARTICIPATE AND VOTE.
Subdivision 1. Eligible voters. Only those individuals who are or will be eligible to vote
at the time of the next state general election, may vote or be elected a delegate or officer at the
precinct caucus. An eligible voter may vote or be elected a delegate or officer only in the precinct
where the voter resides at the time of the caucus.
Subd. 2. Agreement with party principles. Only those persons who are in agreement with
the principles of the party as stated in the party’s constitution, and who either voted or affiliated
with the party at the last state general election or intend to vote or affiliate with the party at the
next state general election, may vote at the precinct caucus.

Subd. 3. Decision by caucus vote. In case the right of a person to participate at the caucus is
challenged, the question of the right to participate shall be decided by a vote of the whole caucus.
A person so challenged may not vote on the question of the person’s right to participate.

Subd. 4. One caucus per year. No person may vote or participate at more than one party’s
caucuses in any one year.

There are former Democrats and non-Republicans who back Paul. If you find yourself suffering from speeches on the gold standard and an illegal war on Caucus night, here are a few handy tips.

  1. Make sure you didn’t accidently end up at the Democratic Party’s Caucus.
  2. Challenge the Paul supporter’s credentials.
    1. Have they voted for a Republican before
    2. Will they vote for other Republicans this year (when) if Paul doesn’t get the nomination?
    3. Do they believe 9-11 was an inside job?
    4. Do they believe in a strong national defense against enemies foreign and domestic?

I received a flyer today for Ron Paul and attached is a page stating “Being registered with the Republican Party is NOT required” verbatim.

Paul is a truther. What a wasted vote. Crazy uncle Paul

  2. bmetzler says:

You should be careful here. I hear enough conservatives saying that if McCain wins the nomination they won’t vote Republican either, so in that respect they may not be any better then Paulites, and shouldn’t be in the Republican caucus either.

Then again, since we don’t have party registration in MN, I would view as highly suspect anyone who says that they ARE registered with the Republican Party

Re: the McCain thing, that is a battle I think some would like to have, on both sides. Is an amnesty loving, tax cut opposing, global warming friendly candidate really a good representative of teh Republican cause?

On the Paul thing, there are Dems that are supporting Paul. I’ve heard of a few instances where they were trying to become conveners, and some good BPOU leaders snifed them out.
