  • Rep. Melissa Hortman - Gas Tax “Worth It For Her”

Posted by Andy on December 19th, 2007

Rep. Melissa Hortman (D 47B) is the champion of Liberal causes. She has impeccable liberal credentials, as displayed by her 95% rating from the Sierra Club or her 100% rating from the League of Conservation Voters. She pretty much got a big old FAIL from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce (ahem: the Business Community).

And whenever there is a tax increase or public subsidy, chances are, her name is near it. And when there is a photo op at those signing ceremonies that hand over millions of taxpayer dollars for pet and feel good projects…. she always seems to elbow her way into the forefront of the photos so she can prove that she delivered the bacon in her campaign lit pieces.

Well, she’s also one of the leading shills for a gas tax increase at the Capital, but she doesn’t really give a darn how you pay for it. She can just bill another hour of time as a wealthy do-gooder lawyer to make up the difference for herself. This audio should help expose the liberal elite mentality that DFL legislators have. Money grows on trees to these people.

“When you’re billing $195 an hour, $50 in gas tax is well worth it.” Democrat Rep. Melissa Hortman (47B)

That is what she uses to justify a gas tax in her mind, she can make more money from it.

This is the weirdest story. What is the news here? Is it the fact that Rep. Hortman supports a gas tax? That is not new news. Is it the fact that Rep. Hortman has been a supporter of the Northstar rail? That is not news. What is the news??? Is it that Rep. Hortman is effective? Or is it that Rep. Hortman is dedicated to fixing our underfunded transportation system. (These are Tim Pawlenty’s words, not mine.) Maybe the author of this could clarify why this is a story? Or what the point is, besides slinging mud. But maybe that is the best that the author can do. Sling mud!

Have faith young MINO (Moderate in name only), I’m just touching the tip of the Hortman pyramid scheme. Seems she has an affinity for pushing public projects that she may stand to benefit from financially.

But of course, as a dutiful “moderate” you will assume any grain of truth or quote from a candidate that paints them as a staunch liberal is mud slinging.

I wonder if she can say “regressive tax”? Which is, I believe, your point. It’s a pittance for her when she’s pulling in the big bucks. She cares more for getting revenue for government than she does for people who are scraping by.

Hey asshat, why don’t you stop trying to be like MDE and going back to doing what you do best.

Which in case you are wondering is bitching about Mark Kennedy’s loss and talking about how great Joe Repya is. Oh, and how could I forget, jerking off to a picture of Fred Thompson!

I guess I don’t see that as a staunch liberal, I see it as a person who is trying to find a way to solve a problem that the governor has no solutions to except to Borrow the money from our kids. What a great thinker!!! BTW, the Chamber of Commerce sees it as a problem and is willing to have a gas tax increase. What an idea, make the people that use the system pay for it. Huh? What a concept.

She stands to benefit? Stop with the baseless mudslinging. Is that what this blog is about. Rumors with no proof? Wow is that impressive. NOT!
