Today, I Too Became a MNDOT Victim

Yep, it happened as I was running home at lunch to let the dogs out. I was heading up 35W and onto Hwy 10. I passed by the turkey massacre of the morning, had a good giggle while I gobbled.
I was passing the new Medtronic building keeping my distance of the Ethanol tanker truck that was in the next lane up ahead. Then, as I was approaching the Airport Rd. exit, that’s when it happened. That’s when our State’s Transportation Department attacked me.
That goll darn tanker truck kicked up a big rock. It is odd, but for some reason my eyes can hone in on objects right before they hit my windshield. Be it bugs or debris. For some reason my eyes seem to switch to slowmo mode and focus in on the object.
Well, it was a split second, but I knew it was bigger than the average road crud, and it was going to impact my windshield. The rock hit my windshield with tremendous force. The sound was akin to a …. well and big rock hitting my windshield at highway speeds.
I managed to stay in my lane, and avoid an accident from the MNDOT attack. I guess one could wonder if it was a environutter attack too, as it was an ethanol truck. (Placard #1203 - gasohol aka ethanol blended gasoline for consumption) But none the less, my windshield saved my life, but is out like Adriane Peterson.
I suffered a terrible spider chip just out of my main line of site. My windshield’s integrity is no longer what I feel safe with. I’ve heard far too many PSAs and info about how windshields are integrally structural and a safety device in modern cars. What am I to do? A new windshield will surely cost me hundreds if not over a thousand to replace.
I was simply driving home for lunch to let my dogs out when MNDOT attacked. I hope the State Legislature’s bloated committee structure has room for my fellow citizens who have also been attacked by the sloppy cleaning of our highways. We shouldn’t be forced to pay for a MNDOT oversight out of our own pockets.
(another split second passes by)
Wait a tick, I have full glass coverage on my auto insurance.
Nevermind
