  • SCOOP - Repya Joins Thompson Campaign

Retired Lt. Col. Joe Repya will be joining the Fred Thompson campaign. Repya has taken a National position and will help head up the Vets for Fred arm of the campaign. Repya held a similar position with President Bush in 2004, and has been on the wish list for the Republican candidates in the 2008 cycle.

With 2 months to go until the voting begins in the POTUS sweepstakes, Fred! is gathering strength and gathering his troops for battle. Repya will bring with him experience and knowledge that has been called upon by the current Commander in Chief.

If you are in the GOP camp who feels they must choose the lesser of two evils RINOs in Romney or Rudy, I urge you not to give up on Fred! And for pete’s sake don’t you dare think McCain is an acceptable alternative. All three of them are in fact Big Government Republicans or Liberal on core conservative issues.

I’m reminded of the quote by Patrick Henry on how judging a person’s past is a good indicator of their future actions. Fred Thompson is the only Republican Presidential Candidate that has consistently been on the side of Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, Pro-Marriage, and Pro-Legal Immigration! He is the candidate that all Republicans can vote for and know that he will remain true to our principles and values.” said Repya.

Fred! is a federalist, limited Government candidate who believes in winning the war on terror. He may not meet your slick campaign standards yet or tell you what you want to hear with a smirk or a smile, but on the issues, he’s right!, far more than the others.

What a shock! AAA and Colonel Joe agreeing with me on a POTUS candidate! :-)

AAA says “And for pete’s sake don’t you dare think McCain is an acceptable alternative.”

Not sure I would bring this up in a post about Joe.

Call me skeptical about this but in the past few months Joe has been:
      Vets for McCain
      Running for Chair
      Running for Senate
      Vets for Fred

I have concerns that he is looking for something/anything to get him to Washington.

Joe has been a hard worker and made great sacrifices for both for the Party and the Country,
but lately he has been acting like a politician.

Fred has been the most underwhelming Presidential candidate this cycle. He looks tired and clearly doesn\’t have the fire in the belly.

Fred lobbied for a pro-abortion group in DC — is that consistent with the GOP position, Joe? McCain, love him or hate him, has been the most consistent on the pro-life issue. In fact, Fred supported McCain in 2000 and was helping McCain earlier this year. And, Fred was irked that the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill wasn\’t called the McCain-Feingold-Thompson bill.

Fred\’s campaign has stumbled out of the gates in a major way. Repya sure as heck ain\’t gonna come in on a white horse and save things. Judging from how poorly he ran for Party Chair, Repya\’s addition to Fred\’s campaign will probably sink them deeper into oblivion.

      J,

And the Vikes played really well the second half on Sunday. Better not try to cross any railroad tracks. :D

      Sam,

He was never actually running for Senate, and I happen to know a lot of people who wish that he was. Heck, I threatened to run a few times because of liberal votes cast by Coleman, as have others. I can also say that I am pretty sure that Joe is looking forward to spending a lot of time with his wife and dogs, not lobbyists in DC. And having gotten to know him in the last few months, he’s far from the “politician” type you are alleging. He is a core conservative who believes in the p[rinciples of Reagan. Fred! is by far the best match in this crop in my mind. I suppose one could ignore their desire to make sure someone like that gets into the Oval office, if they wanted….

      Machoman,

If Repya ran such a poor campaign, how is it that he managed 45% of the vote in June?

And for those who want to really get into it, Repya, a 30-some year veteran who served in 3 wars, is helping the Vets for Fred arm of the campaign, in a similar role as he did for President Bush in 2004.

Are you saying that President Bush made a poor decision as well?

Come on lads, you have to be able to come up with better attacks. Maybe you should try focus grouping those a bit more before you post them here. Or heck, just go pull some of the MSM’s stuff. They are afraid of him too.

    5. Sam Says:

      Andy,
Don’t confuse my skepticisms of Joe with concern for Fred.

The “Lobbied for pro-abortion” I believe was the first thing thrown at Fred.
He was a lawyer and did the work his client asked.
(I heard that in the Library that Laura Bush worked in, they had a book about Stalin.)
And Fred said he was concerned with the influence of money and thought McCain bill was the answer, and now he know he was wrong.

      About Joe,
      June 13, 2007
“An Iraq war veteran and former adviser to Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) yesterday said he is considering a primary challenge against the lawmaker in 2008.”
“Yesterday, in a statement, Repya confirmed that he is mulling a run. He said he will travel around the state and talk to people about the viability of a bid during the next two months.”
As I said, call me skeptical - Joe is a great guy but he seems to want to have some political position.

I think he is a better spokesman than political leader however - so the Vets position should be good for him.

I wish Fred would do something big soon. He is getting painted as not being involved in the campaign.

By the way where are the Ron Paul folks. I thought there was one assigned to every blog????

Since they are not here, I will fill in -
RON PAUL is THE ONLY TRUE CONSERVATIVE. WE RAISED MORE MONEY AND SHOULD BE TAKEN MORE SERIOUSLY.

Ok, now back to normal again.

      Fred on abortion:

Former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) may have seriously wounded himself with his handling of the abortion issue on Sunday\’s \”Meet the Press.\” Thompson unequivocally stated he opposed a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution, which is a plank in the Republican platform. Without prompting, he then attacked the idea of \”criminalizing\” abortion and locking up mothers who procure abortions — images that are used as scare tactics by the pro-choice lobby. Throughout the long discussion of the topic, Thompson was incoherent at best and thoroughly objectionable to his party\’s pro-life base at worst. He backed away from his firm opposition to the platform, but he never quite set himself right on the whole issue.
