  • Pawlenty’s Latest ‘Interest’ Should Set Off Alarms ….

Posted by Andy on October 29th, 2007

…. but not the kind that he now wants to.

Pawlenty is going off the deep end on Al Gore environuttiness.

When famed explorer Will Steger sets off for the northernmost tip of the Canadian Arctic in the spring, he expects to rendezvous with an important potential convert on global warming: Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

If Pawlenty does go, and does try to outflank Arnold as the most liberal friendly Republican Governor in the Nation, I would consider it an act of political war on conservatism, because it is.

I believe that Gov. Pawlenty has done more to beat back true conservatism than the DFL legislative leaders. I believe if you want to know why Republicans lost so many House and Senate seats, you need to look no further than the top of the 2006 ticket.
Conservatives were pissed off at issue after issue where they were A) told they were wrong on and B) saw first hand that the Republican Governor was propelling liberal Big Government policies and programs.

To a core ‘conservative first, Republican second’ activist, Pawlenty is no friend when you look at the whole picture of his record as Governor. His latest legacy creating salvo on enironuttiness will be the nail in the conservative coffin here in Minnesota.

Pawlenty cannot be allowed to drag the Republican party with him on his race to the left. The advisors and strategists who are calling the shots seem to believe like Pawlenty that “the era of small government is over”.

Well I beg to differ. You see there is already a place for voters to go if they believe the hype that this is the first time ever the Earth has warmed 1 degree over 100 years. For fools like Pawlenty who think man is single handedly killing mother Earth, I got news for you. It has been hotter, and there used to be giant glaciers covering parts North America, not to mention Pangaea, and dinosaurs.

These 10,000 lakes and our rivers didn’t just happen by luck.

The next State Central Meeting for the Republican party is coming up in December. Let’s hope Pawlenty’s little trip to Al Gore’s Church of global lunacy is at that time, because if he decides to lecture us how we need to see the big picture again, it will get ugly, I promise you. I’ve had it with this guy. We know what we believe, if he doesn’t like it, he needs to declare his own independence from us.

Mark my words, if Pawlenty is allowed to continue to define the Republican party, even though he is not on the ballot in 2008, he will destroy any chances of making gains in the Minnesota House.

This is where the Republican Party leadership has to do something. There are thousands of us, and just one Pawlenty. We aren’t looking for a legacy or higher job. We are stuck here, and beg that you do something to help us stop left wing policies take root. And if a Republican decides to propel left wing lunacy, the party needs to publicly oppose the wayward official for the sake of the base and OUR agenda, conservatism.

I know the powerbrokers believe the party is there to defend the elected officials no matter what. It has been the norm for quite a few years. Astonishingly, none of the degree holding professional strategists and advisors notice that there is now a visible series of bad elections for Republicans which just so happens to coincide with someone’s ascension……

It is time to stop hitching the party wagon to people who will take it off the liberal cliff.

Pawlenty is the gift that keeps on giving, but it is to the DFL, because they know he is dividing this party. Some people only care about winning, others care about the issues.

It is time for movement conservatives to retake control of this party and the messaging. I implore the Republican Party leadership to stand up and distance the party from Pawlenty on this one.

Silence on this one is an endorsement of Al Gore and all of his anti-capitalist lunacy. That ain’t gonna be good for the grassroots of the party. Pawlenty is declaring war on what we believe, it is time we fight back before it is too late.

20070214_carey_2.jpg You claim to be a movement conservative Mr. Chairman.

    Prove it!

Stand up to Pawlenty before he takes our platform and ignores it further. His agenda does not match ours. Something has got to give. It won’t be those of us who share our core conservative principles. Time to choose.

The fact that he is even thinking of this Arctic adventure is proof that Pawlenty is a lost cause and seems intent on ignoring the conservatives. In fact he could be the rallying cry for conservatives in Minnesota. Stand up to the Governor and take back the House.

How do you intend to do that?

The Party has to distance the Party message as a whole from Republicans who take liberal stances on major issues.

Pawlenty and his environuttiness, erossion of freedoms, and the expansion of Government into our daily lives.

      Coleman on ANWR & SCHIP

You don’t have to completely demonize the official, but you do have to point out when they are wrong on an issue so near and dear to the heart of the grassroots of the party.

I did try to help solve the biggest problem I saw in doing this, Party leadership. I was defeated but I refuse to believe that more of the same is going to reverse our downward course. Luckily the Ex Comm is standing up and being heard as intended, and being far more than a rubber stamp. There is a behind the scenes change taking place, but unfortunately, not what we need, as in public displays of disappointment or opposition.

The base needs to see and hear that someone is actually standing up for their values, no matter who is opposing them. When a Republican supports fringe liberal issues, that should not stop the Party from attacking the leader of a State for bowing at the altar of Al Gore fear mongering to propel socialist agendas. (yes go look at the “cures” for Global Climate Change, its miraculously close to communism.)

RINOs have been in control of this party for some time. During that same course we’ve been headed towards irrelevancy. We’ve lost election after election with the message of moderation. Sure individuals like Pawlenty have survived, but as whole, the Party suffered for that.

Do you believe that more of the same is going to correct our trend?

The Party leaders need to stand up and defend the values we hold near and dear and fight back at the liberalism that is on the march. If there just so happens that a Republican gets caught in the cross fire so be it. Chalk it up to collateral damage. But to sit back and do nothing is in fact aiding the spread of liberalism.

This is one of those make or break moments. Either the party sits back and watches Pawlenty erode more freedoms, or it fights back to stop the monster they helped create.

Andy, I understand your frustration and agree with it, but I think you’re missing the big picture, here. It isn’t that the Governor is taking a shot at conservatives or conservatism, it’s that he is violating the most basic rules of common sense. Yes, the arctic may be warming. Is that all bad? Tell me, Governor, did you see any large concentrations of manmade CO2 when you were there? Do you think CO2, manmade or otherwise, caused what you saw, because it never has in the last 600,000 years. Both Nobel Peace Prize winners, Al Gore and the IPCC, AGREE that CO2 does not cause global warming, why do you want to insist it does, and then ruin our economy with the WRONG solution to a non-existent problem? That’s not straying from conservatism, that’s NUTS.

“I would consider it an act of political war on conservatism”

Pawlenty has not gone anywhere, he is where he has always been - to the left.
He declared war long ago (Taxes, Spending, Transportation etc..) just no one listen when told.

Andy, The time to do something about McPlenty was before his endorsement and election.
Now, what does he care what you think - he is getting good press and he already got the support and votes from you he needed.

The question is what are you going to do about the other Statewide RINO who has not been endorsed or elected yet.
Norm is up for election and has already left the reservation many times.
He also is on the Corn/Bio Global Warming band wagon.

I could careless what we do with Tim, a press release from the party, so what - We are stuck with him for years - But what are you going to do about Norm.

    5. J. Ewing Says:

I think a press release from the party would do wonders for both of them. Having people deny them money because of their nuttiness would work wonders. Having them questioned about their nuttiness whenever they show up for a forum would force them to consider that they might not be “leaders” if they don’t have anyone following them on the issue.

Pawlenty owes his second term to E-85, so it’s reasonable that he should be now be in the enviro-loon’s camp.

    8. J. Ewing Says:

E-85 might even get him a few more elections, until we can’t afford corn flakes and STILL cannot plant enough corn to meet the required percentage.

I doubt it. It would probably just make conservatives look as crazy as the whacko’s on the left who question Clinton about 9/11 being an inside job.

Governor Pawlenty and Senator Coleman already know that they have a lot of Repulicans following them on their issues, and a lot of conservatives who do nothing but whine and complain. Being a whacko nutter at forums is going to get peoples attention, but maybe not the way you want. Getting more conservatives involved in the political process is probably a little more productive.

    10. J. Ewing Says:

When it comes to “Global Warming,” I’m willing to take that chance. The “problem” is so ridiculously overblown– it’s actually a complete hoax– and the solutions so drastic and unnecessary, that you are going to sound a little wacko if all you propose is doing nothing. That’s what I propose. Granted, the more people of any political stripe that we can convince on this, the easier it will be to persuade our “leaders” to slow down the pace.
