Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Now Everyone’s an Expert

It seems that mayve the one real unifying aspect of the 35W bridge collapse is that now EVERY lawmaker and politician is an expert in transportation.

State transportation officials were repeatedly told by DFL legislators Wednesday to put the brakes on their fast-track plans to replace the collapsed I-35W bridge and concentrate instead on making sure the new bridge is safe and meets the needs of Minnesotans for decades to come.

Of course, the Democrats want to make you suffer even more just for their little agenda…… trains.

The 35W bridge fell down. That bridge is vital to us residents of the Twin Cities. We need that bridge back as quickly as possible. But nope, the DFL wants to slow down this process to put all sorts of other things onto this bridge.

We Twin Citians are supposed to waste more fuel, money, and time away from our families going on different routes for the next 2 plus years, while Rybak and his cronies in the Legislature try to play Sim City, rather than solve a real critical problem. Rebuilding the bridge as quickly as possible.
If you can consider it a ray of hope, luckily, I hear the idea of calling a special session has been put on the back burner. (Thanks Tim.)

Isn’t it sad that the Federal Government can work at a faster pace than Minnesota’s?

so you’re saying that when the bridge was scheduled to be replaced already in 2020, all they would do is just build the same thing (only stronger and with redundancy) and maybe add 2 lanes of traffic is all?

come on… this isn’t a political issue at all here, it’s about future proofing something…

nobody is saying build LRT into the damn thing right now, they’re saying build it so that it can support LRT in the future if necessary. that amount of load is necessary just to make it be stronger than the previous bridge anyway, so it wouldn’t cost anything extra in terms of strength. and what people don’t get is, they’d be idiots to run LRT ALONGSIDE traffic on the bridge… if any of you have been to NYC you’d know how to run a train over a bridge… (i’ll give you a hit, it’s a Red Hot Chili Peppers song).

  2. Priorities…

Much has been said, in recent days, about Transportation and Bridge Inspection. EVERYONE it seems is an “expert” on the issue. There has been plenty of blame laid by the usual suspects. Yet no one seems to be talking about the important……
