Now Why Didn’t I Think Of This? The RINO Awards
Posted by Andy on August 15th, 2007
Who is your favorite RINO and why?

And the nominees are:
Vote for your favorite RINO then tell us below why you voted for this RINO.
Senator Kyl (Arizona)
Senator/Presidential Candidate John McCain (Arizona)
Senator Martinez (Florida)
Senator Craig (Idaho)
Senator Lugar (Indiana)
Senator Snowe (Maine)
Senator Lott (Mississippi)
Senator Hagel (Nebraska)
Senator Gregg (New Hampshire)
Senator Specter (Pennsylvania)
Senator Graham (South Carolina)
Senator Bennett (Utah)
Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney
Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (CA)
This was thrown together by someone who appears to be running for President, Daniel Gilbert. Never heard of him.
But it is an interesting thing, and might just catch on.
I wish I had the time to throw one of these together for some Minnesota Republican legislators who think abandoning core conservative principles is the immediate solution to every problem…. (that was in part caused or at least worsened by liberal policies that have been siphoning off funds for decades due to shoddy priorities in spending). But I don’t so MN RINOs, you’re safe…. Unless a dedicated reader of ResidualForces.com has the time to throw something together…. you know, just in case we do have a special session to raise the gas tax.
Anywho… go vote for your favorite RINO, the great thing is you get to explain why.
(AAA’s note: You’ll notice that Sen. Coleman is absent from the nominees for the RINO awards, and I agree with that decision. The Senators listed above are REAL RINOs. )

Why Jon Kyl is on that list & Norm isn’t is beyond me. Jon Kyl’s sole blemish was the immigration reform. He’s been one of the most solid members in terms of supporting strict constructionist judges. He’s never voted against a tax cut. He voted against BCRA.
If that sounds like a RINO, I can live with that.

I agree, I don’t think it’s fitting to put Kyl on the list — he’s been great on judiciary and a solid conservative except for the most recent immigration proposal. I wouldn’t call Norm a RINO either. I’m not even sure it’s fair to call Romney a RINO, given he’s in Mass.
The ones that irritate me the most are the RINOs from red to reddish purple states, like Hagel and Graham. For that reason and the fact that he’s a media whore, Hagel gets my vote as the worst of the bunch.
I get that you may not be able to take a green/lefty state like Maine or Mass. without bending on a few issues.
I would add Stevens and Voinovich to the list.
