State Rep. Bud Heidgerken (R-Freeport) hopes Gov. Tim Pawlenty will call a special session to deal with transportation funding and more.
In the Freeport Republican’s latest e-letter, Heidgerken said he thinks the Legislature should do a transportation bill that puts new money into the system.
He also has hopes for revisiting the elections and tax bills Pawlenty vetoed.
Money quote on the tax bill:
“Property tax relief was included in this tax bill as well as LGA (Local Government Aid) for many of our small cities. As I mentioned before, much of these monies were to come from corporate tax compliance. I hope we do not walk away from this.”
Heidgerken notes that nobody knows why the I-35W bridge fell and warns against fingerpointing, but also notes that the last four administrations have not put any new revenue into transportation and that the federal gas tax hasn’t been increased in decades.
The tittle I used is the subject line of the email.
As I have pointed out to a few people today in conversations, I am not afraid of Pawlenty calling a Special Session, nor am I afraid of the DFL passing crazy crap, but rather Pawlenty vetoing the crazy DFL crap, and us not holding our caucus togther to sustain the veto.
With spineless RINOs like Heidgerken here to pin my hopes on, there’s no chance.
That’s why I don’t want a special session…. besides the fact that I believe it is completely unneeded and simply a ploy to raise taxes bhy the liberal local MSM and DFLers.
Sheesh, i just reread the quote again. Is this guy really a Republican? I think the SCT’s may have gotten the party affiliation wrong.
