Sticks and Stones Can break Your Bones….

Posted by Andy on 31st August 2007

… but name calling in a US Senate campaign is not gonna kill ya. All that is being done by the DFL leaving these (barely) attacks up is proof that they are the ones who actually hate their opponents and turn campaigns negative.

I think far too much is being made of the slimey tactics of the DFl booth regarding the name calling. I think the fact that some keep pointing this out over and over is showing how little you have to stand on as well.

I have the feeling if they have to resort to name calling they must be flat out of ideas. If you have to resort to - their name calling being your golden goose, you must be out of ideas.

How about we get back to issues?

Franken wants to get us out of the war on terror’s central front. He wants to do a lot of very bad things for and to America.

But name calling? name calling is the one that gets some of you to crawl out from under the rock you’ve been under?

From the INBOX: The Pirate of Venezuela

Posted by Andy on 31st August 2007

Let’s hope Hillary doesn’t get any ideas.

Hope someone at CIA and/or DOD is watching Chavez closely.  This is reminiscent of Fidel Castro.  This guy is gonna be big trouble in the not so distant future.

*** Venezuela Wants Two U.S. Oil Firms to Leave ***

Exxon Mobil and Conoco Phillips have refused to fall in line with a law passed by President Hugo Chavez’s government forcing multinationals to give at least 60% of the capital in their Venezuelan operations to the state-controlled Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA).

Venezuela is one of the world’s top 10 oil producers and a major supplier to the U.S., its biggest customer.

Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez said on Aug. 30: “We are negotiating with the companies that have not accepted our laws in order to finalize their departure from the country.“  The minister said that the era of “oil openness is over” and highlighted that no compensation would be given to the U.S. companies.

“We have been very clear since last year: quite simply, it does not interest us to work with companies that do not accept our laws,” Ramirez said as he left a Venezuelan parliament debate on energy.  He added that those companies which do work with PDVSA would be allowed to stay in “the biggest oil reserve on the planet” for at least 25 years.

Venezuela is the only Latin-American member of OPEC, the main oil producers’ cartel. Officially it produces about three million barrels of oil per day but the International Energy Agency has given a figure of 2.6 million. About half of the production goes to the United States. There is an estimated 230 billion barrels of oil in Venezuela’s Orinoco field but 78 billion are proved.

Since they are oil companies, do you think American liberals will care that there is a modern day pirate stealing American capital?

Seriously, isn’t this piracy? Where’s the outrage? heck, where’s the UN?

    Unjustice of the Peace

Posted by Andy on 31st August 2007

Judge rewrite history, usurp laws on Minnesota’s doorstep.

AP) David Curtis Rethmeier A county judge struck down Iowa’s decade-old gay marriage ban as unconstitutional Thursday and ordered local officials to process marriage licenses for six gay couples.

Gay couples from anywhere in Iowa could apply for a marriage license from Polk County under Judge Robert Hanson’s ruling.

When the laws get in their way, they can always find someone to legislate from behind the judge’s stand. It will be a matter of time before this is tried here.

    We’ll See Ya in February….

Posted by Andy on 31st August 2007

Maybe the powers that be realize even floating the idea was unwise when Democrats are involved.

On Thursday, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS learned a special legislative session may be on hold.
Last week, Gov. Tim Pawlenty said he was hoping to call lawmakers back to St. Paul after Labor Day to deal with the emergency issues that plague the state.
But now, that may not happen any time soon.

Pawlenty wanted to call a special session to pass laws on four issues: bridge safety, flood relief, property taxes, and transportation.

“Special session are supposed to be called for emergencies. And we have one,” said Pawlenty.

But the Governor won’t call a special session unless he has in writing, an agreement from lawmakers that they’ll stick to emergency issues only.

The Governor does deserve credit for aiming on a narrow agenda, but I think he threw out far too many suggestions along the way. If the DFl and media can win the PR game, pawlenty will be forced to call a special, and lord knows they will be pushing for billions in new spending on froo froo choo choos.

Let’s hope that he just plain doesn’t call one. A written agreement from Poggemiller and the DFL leaders is about as useful as a paper snow shovel. Pawlenty and the Republicans have been burned many times by Poggemiller and DFL crew before during negotiations.

I still have yet to see anything that requires an emergency session. All I saw was a whole bunch of Legislators with leftward tendancies lining up to grab more of Minnesotan’s hard earned money and tell us how to live our lives.
We’ll see ya in February…..  (please?)

    9,6,7 = FRED!

Posted by Andy on 30th August 2007

Fred Thompson just sent out an email saying he will make it official on September 9th.

    Dear Friends,

On September 6, 2007, Fred Thompson will be announcing his intention to run for President of the United States with a webcast available to millions at www.imwithfred.com. The launch of the video will be followed by a five-day campaign tour through Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. On the evening of the 6th, there will also be a National House Party, during which there will be a conference call with Fred.

We enter this campaign in a strong position. Fred is consistently near the top in the polls, and conservatives across the country have put together the closest thing to a draft in recent presidential campaign history in an effort to bring about this day. [...]

For His Legacy’s Sake, Pawlenty Will Support Tragedy Tax

Posted by Andy on 30th August 2007

crankybear.jpgGovernor Tim Pawlenty (RINO MN) has released the level of tragedy gas tax increase he sees as acceptable eventhough billions of dollars have and will be wasted on non-highway and bridge spending by Minnesota’s Government.

The Republican governor says he would prefer to keep the increase at a nickel or less, [...]

But support it he is going to do, promises be damned. This is a straight tax increase, no question or spin about it. Pawlenty has just announced he will raise taxes across the board. FACT!

I certainly hope this is the final straw for the Republican Party of Minnesota’s leadership. Pawlenty seems squarely in the corner of it is all about him, damn the citizens, and to heck with the priorities.

So it is high time that the Republican party of Minnesota stand up for something, rather than in the shade of a man willing to buck public will, and his own political party which he owes his job to, just for his own legacy’s sake.

Pawlenty feels he has to raise taxes to remain liked by Minnesotans, but little does he know that the public likes strong leaders who don’t cave on their own principles the first time the waters get rough. Pawlenty has done so twice now.

Obviously he doesn’t really believe in limited government or accountability of the Government to its citizens. It is impossible to stand behind a man who will stand for everything. He’s blown this opportunity to correct the misdirected priorities in state spending and getting Government back on track to serving the people. Nope, this new pledged support for a gas tax is adding fuel to the DFL fire to make teh citizens work for the Government.imnotlistening.jpg

With Pawlenty stupidly announcing that he will sign a gas tax, all he’s done is open the door for the DFL to start at a quarter. They can always come back to a dime or so since Pawlenty will support it, so why won’t the DFL try to get more? That is what liberal big government nanny staters do. Gee, guess who has sided with them and ended to honeymoon and erased the good will from the vetoes.

We don’t need no stinking tragedy tax. We don’t need the Governor advocating for more government. The same government under which the 35W warning signs were missed, is going to get bigger. Thanks to Pawlenty’s desire to seem moderate, he’s forgotten all about his principles. He has abandoned his party far too often, and it is time fpr the party to do something about it.

He didn’t make the liberal Legislature prove that Government really has no waste and needs the new funds. Nope instead Pawlenty has spent the month since the 35W collapse throwing out ideas for the DFL to adopt to raise spending and or taxes. The man has either the worst advisors in the world, or the rumors are true, and he doesn’t give a rats arse about the conservative movement or Republican party.

Unless the Republican party starts to put some room between themselves and Pawlenty, you might as well forget all about 2008. Save the money, save the time. Pawlenty is going to destroy the Republican party, no wait, he may already have.

    OHHHHHHHH, OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Feds to cover Flooding Costs

In addition, Fillmore, Winona, Houston, Steele, Olmsted and Wabasha counties are eligible for all types of aid provided by FEMA programs — including unemployment assistance, public infrastructure assistance and other programs. Also, damage to public property and debris cleanup costs will be mostly covered by the federal government.
