debateable? it's been proven as such by numerous sources. hell even Bush and Rumsfield have been on record (look around for the videos if you don't believe me) as saying they weren't in Iraq until after we started fighting. they made a good concerted effort to prove otherwise, but once they realized they were wrong, at least they (one of the few things they actually have) owned up to it.

and no, the terrorists won't follow the troops, they're only interested in causing upheavel within Iraq. this is completely different mindset than your average Al Queda who just wants to kill Americans.

and nobody is saying that when the US troops leave things will be rosey, we just don't feel as though the Iraqi soldiers haven't pulled their own weight to keep the peace and don't care to keep seeing our own men and women (and in many cases children) dying over "keeping the peace" from a conflict which we started in the first place.

there is no "win or lose" in Iraq anymore, we already "won" if you use the definition of toppling Saddam. now if you use the excuse that our intention for invading Iraq (just one of the many we were fed) was to liberate Iraq and instill Democracy, well then keep dreaming. no matter how long we fight or how many more of our soldiers lose, there's no way we'll ever be seen as anything but occupiers from here on out.

i really don't understand how people believe you can just force a type of government upon another country. it's RARELY worked in the history of the world, and even when it has, it's had tons of bad consequences.

Debateable... BUT if your way is true, and al Qaeda sought our troops out for a fight, what will happen if/when our troops leave Iraq and go elsewhere?

If we redeploy, (over the horizon, the Murtha/Pelosi plan) will the terrorists follow our troops to Kuwait or wherever?

Why are you so confident that the US troops leaving Iraq will end the hostilities and violence?

<em>"Democrats like Franken have been hammering home the point that this is Bush’s war, but the truth is that this is al Qaeda’s war. We went into Iraq to dispose a brutal terrorist sympathetic dictator with a track record of using WMDs. What we found was that AQ were willing to bring the fight to us. We are fighting terror, among other things, in Iraq."</em>

Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq until we invaded it...
