Walz Assumed Election Was Congressional Action

Spotted this in a Hill piece about Congressional Approval ratings.
Freshman Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) says he thinks Democrats failed to communicate well with the public on the issue of pork and earmarks. But he also sees cause for hope.
“The silver lining is that people expected a lot. On Nov. 8, I think people thought the troops would be flying home and these investigations will be in full swing.”
The silver lining is that Democrats failed to do what they said they would do? Sheesh, talk about setting the bar low.
Sorry to break it to the rookie, but talk is cheap, and Democrats were playing fast and loose with the rhetoric last time around. Once they actually got power, they realized it isn’t nearly as easy as they said it would be, or in fact they couldn’t do what they said they could.
Plus they worked their pacifist base up into a lather over cutting and running, and well, even Pelosi knows that Congress has only one way to do that, cut off funding. They know that is suicide politically.
I guess from Walz’s statement, we have to assume, that by next election, Democrats will finally be ready to do what they said they were gonna do last time, ….. maybe.
