Well, it was one heck of a weekend, that’s for sure.

It was one of the annual gatherings for the Aplikowski clan, where we gather at the cabin for food and fun, from around these parts. And, well, considering the septic tank acted up 3 weeks ago, and the douche bag who I called, who promised “he’d take care of me”, never called to say there was big trouble, we planned for a rip roaring good weekend.

I got up there early Friday to through in a new high-efficiency toilet, and check everything out. Everything seemed fine, despite the “note on the door” the septic tank guy was supposed to leave.

As people flowed in Friday, all seemed well. We laughed, we played, we had a good time. Well, Saturday morning I was awoken with a cup of coffee and bad news. The toilet backed up and the sinks aren’t draining well.

We were shit out of luck, as they say.

So my Saturday began and was largely consumed with digging up the yard to find out WTF was going on. Oh, the guy who we tried to hire wasn’t answering his phone. (prick!)

After a few hours of digging, and trying to figure out the history of the system, it became pretty clear that it was shot. the pipes I could find were full of roots and “stuff” I was hoping is dirt. (I just kept telling myself that is what it was.)

Regardless of the bad luck, we still had a pretty good time. And once I finally got out of the hole, got some grub, and relaxed a bit late in the after noon, I did too. It was a bit interesting though, not having a functioning toliet, that is.

All in all, fun was had, but unfortunately my “to do list” just got longer.

You can add a new well, new septic system, and some freshening up the out house’s decaying wood to the deck, siding, and interior remodeling that the place needs.

Ahhhh, get a cabin and relax is the joke we all have up there. I do enjoy the work, but this is definitely an unexpected expense.

More later, I am taking a long hot shower!
