And that is the clarification that I was looking for Brent. Yes, there are some "crazies" on both sides of the political aisle, however, the firsts rule in politics is not to CALL them crazy otherwise you get them turned against you! Sometimes you have to "play the game" - gawd I guess I was in corporate America too long....

Seriously, never write off large portions of the party. Again we need each other if we are going to win. ALSO, don't ever dismiss out of hand their concerns (as the Bush Administration is doing on the Immigration Bill) or you will dig yourself into a whole that you will never be able to extract yourself from.....

Sorry, I'm a bit frusterated. I've worked with a lot of conservative members of the Republican Party and we've been able to get along with each other, but certain conservatives are really making it difficult for me to consider myself Republican anymore. It is those conservatives that think are crazy. Not because I want them to leave the party as much as they want me and others like me to leave, but because they seem to think that without me and those who hold my views will just join the DFL, that Republicans will somehow become a majority party again. And it's just nonsense, it's blantently crazy thoughts. Oh, that's what I said, I said they were crazy. So, take it for what it's worth, there are certain conservatives that don't seem to be politically sane.

"LL: I know that both sides need each other to win. I’ve lived with that principal as long as I’ve been involved in politics."

And yet you choose to alienate those core conservative voters by calling them "crazy".

That is hardly working with us Brent....

what I am trying to get Brent to understand is that the go-along-to-get-along’s and thhe hard core conservatives NEED EACH OTHER!!!! Neither side can do it alone. We have to work together if we are going to win….

LL: I know that both sides need each other to win. I've lived with that principal as long as I've been involved in politics. That's why it's so frustating to me now the increased pressure to purge certain people from the party who aren't ideologically pure enough. It seems like the party has become a fantasy where you have to agree 100% or close to that with certain specific people to be accepted. And that's wrong for the party.

L. L.
I have read your excellent posts at Ladies Logic about purists and pragmatist.

I am just stating that those other conservative voters are not voting for the Republican Party, because they have lost faith in those republican elected officials who claim the same conservative values.

An interesting tidbit about the chair's race that I first brought up last night right here.

Seems I am not the only one who received a phone call regarding the Chair/Deputy Chair race.

http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2007/06/01/ap-state-rep-atkins-decides-against-us-senate-run/#comments

I think the biggest development here is that these calls are seeming to be very polite calls and not attacks at all.

I am still wanting to find out if these calls were targeted or ig they were generally calling all delegates.

The Republican Party has a problem; it is losing the conservative voters that once voted for it. That base includes voters in the Constitution party, fiscal conservative Libertarians, and conservative independent voters. It will lose elections both nationally and in Minnesota; until it rids itself of "go along to get along" Republicans.
