    GOP Trouble Ahead

Posted by Andy on 18th May 2007

Republican Party of Minnesota Standing Platform

Section 9 — Defending America at Home and Abroad

    E. Strengthening our borders against the threat of terrorism and stopping the flow of illegal immigrants, and deporting illegal aliens. We are against amnesty for illegal aliens. We oppose any program that will allow illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

Just a reminder of what the Republican Party of Minnesota’s Delegates think US immigration policies should be, in case some people have forgotten.

Exactly what part of illegal alien don’t you get?

I have a strong feeling if this Amnesty Bill becomes law that conservatives will be emigrating from the GOP….. again at election time.

    Think twice, vote once.

St. Kate’s CR’s Under Eerily Similar Attack #2

Posted by Andy on 16th May 2007

The College Republicans of St. Kate’s are under attack. St. Kate’s is a college nestled right smack dab in the liberal mecca known as the Twin Cities, and there’s a couragous contingent of Republicans there trying to bring diversity of thought to this one sided community.

The CR’s held an Affirmative Action Bake Sale to help expose the sham that is affirmative action. Here’s there press release.

    affirmative-action-release.jpg

Now for some information on these bake sales, just go to the web. It’s been done before, and it will no doubt be done again until people realize that affirmative action is in fact a racist program.

The St. Kate’s CRs obviously hit a nerve as they were vehimitly protested at their bake sale, and the campus liberal gestapo is rying to get the CR’s charter removed. Look just how unhinged liberals get when there bad ideas of social engineering are mocked, or there is simply a little diversity of thought on the College Campuses.

This is an email that was sent out to the entire St. Kate’s community by the liberals trying to censor the College Republicans.

    affirmativeactionresponse1.jpg affirmativeactionresponse2.jpg affirmativeactionresponse3.jpg

The good Dr. Banaian has much more on the story. Go read it all, and stay tuned for more on this matter.

Baked goods suppression at St. Catherines

Another affirmative action bake sale, another suppression of free speech on a campus.

This time, it’s the College of St. Catherines, where a newly-formed College Republicans chapter held one in a student union building. As has happened in many places (here’s a link to all the previous coverage of affirmative action bake sales on this blog), this one sparked a protest, including a petition seeking to revoke the CRs’ charter at CSC. It includes this little bit of hilarity:

Remember, he works in the higher education community here in Minnesota and is pretty much the goto guy for this type of censorship.

It is really quite astonishing how liberals think censorship is ever a good thing.

    Franken Channels Kosiacks

Posted by Andy on 16th May 2007

Angry Al Franken is either pandering to the Daily Kos wing of the Democratic party, or is in fact, a fringe left liberal.

FRANKEN’S SICK BUSH TWINS’ PREGNANCY JOKE

What is it about liberal politicians who come to Milwaukee to give speeches? They go off the rhetorical rails. First it was Barack Obama, linking Virginia Tech to the war and Don Imus… and everything else under the sun.

Now, Minnesota senate candidate and Air America loudmouth, Al Franken, comes to Milwaukee and criticizes President Bush because the Bush Twins haven’t gotten pregnant with discarded blastocysts from fertility clinics.

He appears to be joking (the audience erupts in laughter) but what kind of a sicko makes a joke like that?

Come to think of it, these guys are probably always off the rhetorical rails. It’s just that the media don’t call them on it.

Specifically, Franken said, after talking about President Bush posing with children born from people who adopted blastocysts (in otherwords, unborn children): “I noticed that neither of the Bush twins had done this….(unintelligible because of the laughter) blastocysts. All I could figure is that they didn’t want to be pregnant so they could volunteer for Iraq.”

    And everyone cheered.

This is the best liberals have got?

Here’s the audio, courtesy of Wispolitics.

Sooner or later I bet Franken will try to literally put his foot in his mouth, so that he stops talking. There is no way that Minnesotans will elect a guy that say things like this.

let’s see, he’s attacked the military, those who support the military, and oh yeah, the pro-life community.

Does Franken realize he is not running in New York anymore?

From The INBOX: At Least They Still Read RF

Posted by Andy on 16th May 2007

    Well how about that.

STAND UP FOR OUR CONSERVATIVE VALUES!
Working with Governor Pawlenty and legislative leaders in an unprecedented partnership for months, we have been taking action championing our conservative principles of limited government and lower taxes through extensive targeted voter contacts. Let’s keep the momentum going and keep fighting the DFL’s endless appetite for tax increases!
As we prepare for the end of the critical legislative session, it is important for Republicans to show support for our conservative principles. Let your Republican legislators know you appreciate their votes for lower taxes and responsible spending, and let the DFL legislators know you are opposed to any vote to increase taxes. Please click here to look up your State Senator and Representative and his or her contact information.
Thank you for all your hard work,
    Ron Carey, Chair
    Republican Party of Minnesota

RF Flashback: From the INBOX: Carey Ignores GOPers who Break Platform

We’ve sent out an action alert to the thousands and thousands of Republican party members urging them to call these Legislators and remind them what party they are in.”

That was my advice from yesterday.

(Tear) It is just nice to be noticed from time to time.

    Bigger Fish To Fry

If you want to get enraged about how crappy the media is at selecting news content, go read this.

Be warned, it contains 2 graphic stories about the animals that walk upright amongst us, and how little they respect human life.

The people responsible for these acts deserve to … well, I have no idea what would be punishment for them.

    Can’t Get No Satisfaction

Posted by Andy on 15th May 2007

So Pawlenty is going to sign the freedom squashing smoking ban, and I hope he realizes this will not sit well with many people. Myself included. (To clear up confusion from the previous post on the subject, I didn’t mean Pawlenty was a Smoke-nazi. But rather the people pushing it. But he sounds a lot like them, so well … but to be clear, I am referring to Lung Ass Bob and the others who were vocal advocates of it and led to this bill getting through the Legislature.)

    A better way:

If the aim is to clean up the air in workplaces, the stated goal of the ban, why allow any exemptions? Why are some employees, expendable, if smoke is that deadly? Don’t they matter?

As to Pawlenty’s silly meat reference. Well, the Health Departments put in place strict handling and storing procedures so that meat doesn’t become poisonous. They didn’t, if memory serves, ban poisonous meat, but rather ensured it wouldn’t spoil and if it did, that then it wouldn’t be served.

Why didn’t the smoke hatas admit that they just don’t want to smell it? because there are better ways to ensure the health of employees and patrons. And who is going to enforce this? Do we now need smoke police to drive around? I know Lung Ass Bob will be frequenting every single bar now that they’ll be ’smoke free’, but he can’t possibly be everywhere all the time.

They could have pushed for air quality standards in bars and restaurants that would have made the air verifiably safe to breath. Why not impose levels for the air quality in these places? Why not say the air has to meet a specific air quality?

What if it was possible to filter or treat the air in an establishment so that it met or exceeded such certain standards? If these places could put in the proper equipment to remove the problem, chemicals from the air, wouldn’t that be the proper way to “protect the public”?

All this ban is doing is fulfilling the dream of annoyed people who don’t care for something. No one has a right to go where ever they please. If smoking is so damn dangerous, then why in the heck are cigarettes legal in the first place?

Seriously, if Government is going to try to delve into people’s lives to make them safer, why not just go all the way and quit playing around? Just ban tobacco altogether. Why not? If it is soooooo dangerous, it is the right thing to do.

But this isn’t about that. this is about a few people thinking their perceived rights supersede other’s. This is about people thinking the world revolves around them. There are some people who think they know better, others who are just plain arsehats, and some who are the behavior police.

    crankybear.jpg

I’m sorry, I just thought we were a better society than this. I thought that maybe we could find a way to coexist. But nope.

I mean we could have created smoking permits, just like alcohol permits. We could have required surgeon general’s warnings on the doors to these places warning the squeamish at mentality from entering. There could be some places where people may be allowed to allow their patrons to do certain things, and others where they could prohibit them. Hmmm, that sounds eerily like the way we treat many many other behaviors.

We could have found a way to compromise, but instead we get a bill that didn’t go far enough according to some, but way too far for others.

    What is next?

Can we ban lilac bushes too? I happen to be allergic, and every time I walk by one or some dufus has a blossom on their desk, my eyelids feel like they turn into sandpaper and my nose starts running. Or how about flowers in general? I also have allergic reactions to them too.

I have a long list of annoyances that I would just love to see done away with for my satisfaction, where do I send it?

From the INBOX: Carey Ignores GOPers who Break Platform

Posted by Andy on 15th May 2007

This just came from the MNGOP.

Governor Pawlenty Stands Strong for Taxpayers
Vetoes Protect Drivers & Small Businesses
St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding Governor Pawlenty’s decision to veto Democrat tax and fee increases totaling nearly $6 billion.

“Democrat tax increases hurt Minnesota’s middle class and harm our economy by killing jobs. Governor Pawlenty is to be commended for his decision to stand strong against Democrat tax and fee increases totaling nearly $6 billion. We should support small businesses and Minnesota families, not punish them with onerous tax increases.”

Yes, great, Pawlenty vetoed the bill.

    BUT!!!!!!!!!!

As many as 10 Republicans voted for this bill in the first place, and this bill has a possibility to be overridden by some of these very RINOs thus making Pawlenty’s veto worthless.

For crying out loud, stop carrying the Governor’s water and focus a little on our goll darn platform and the dire need the conservative movement has, lack of leadership.

    Here, let me help:

“I’m thrilled Governor Pawlenty made the right call and vetoed this bill, (insert fluffy stuff here)

But it saddens me deeply that some Republicans voted for this bill in the first place, and are threatening to vote to override the Governor. Republicans oppose tax increases. These legislators could learn a lot from Governor Pawlenty and principled Republican leaders in Minnesota who know this bill is bad for Minnesota.

We’ve sent out an action alert to the thousands and thousands of Republican party members urging them to call these Legislators and remind them what party they are in.”

Or something like that, but well, I guess I am not surprised that we got the version we did.
