DFLers Gone Wild - Metzen’s DWI - A Brewing Storm
Posted by Andy on May 24th, 2007
You all know if this was a Republican, all hell would be breaking loose in the local MSM. But nope, since it is another powerful DFLer who got caught driving at nealy twice the legal limit, it is wagon circling time.
Let’s take a little from our state’s public health website on people driving at twice the legal limit.
At higher AC levels (.05 and above) these functions become greatly impaired. Those functions most directly related to driving include coordination and balance, vision, steering, perception, processing of information, attention and judgment.
Huh, by that description, it may in fact be safe to say that the entire DFL caucus was drunk during the session, if you look at the complete lack of judgement and inability to process information, and the fact that there was absolutely no balance in the Senate.
But seriously, as this is a serious situation.
Fatality Risk for Drivers in Single Vehicle Crashes at Various Alcohol Concentration Levels: Relative to Non-Drinking Drivers
AC LEVEL FATALITY RISK
0.05-0.09 11 times greater
0.10-0.14 48 times greater
0.15 or higher 380 times greater
The fact that with in 2 hours of closing the session, Sen. Metzen was driving a car in a condition that left him 380 times more dangerous than normal drivers, well, he does have a problem. There are people saying that it would be pretty darn hard to reach that limit in an hour and a half.
Was he drinkin on the job? Again?
There was a problem caught on tape in 2004. And in 2005…
Last year, in Metzen’s office, FOX 9’s hidden cameras caught former Rep. Scott Wasiluk and one of the Senate Secretaries helping themselves to the liquor in Senator Metzen’s office.
I think it may be time to protect the public. We need to ban liquor in the state taxpayer funded buildings, for the safety of the people. Metzen’s office seems to be the liquor cabinet for the Senate. Obviously one doesn’t keep liquor where they won’t use it.
Seriously, is it OK for people to get drunk while making laws?
I’m sorry I know it is tough stressful work to be a Legislator, but if they can’t take the heat, people like Metzen should get out of the kitchen.
