No hope for Coleman - he will stick his finger in the air and see which way the wind is blowing in MN.
And with Pawlenty being a McCain guy, can’t see Coleman doing anything with this.

      This is McCain’s bill.
No would be a good time for Joe to show that his not a cog of the McCain machine.
A strongly worded message from the man who says he wants to be the chair to stand up for conservatives?
This would be his chance to stand up and speak.

Otherwise, it will only confirm the fears of those of us who are concerned about his early commitment to be the McCain chair in MN.

Is Joe a McCain plant or is he his own man?
This should be an easy chance for him put that concern to rest.

interesting thing is… many key Dems are not supportive of this so far…

As I posted here, yesterday was that legislation’s high water mark in popularity:

I predict that yesterday was the high water mark in terms of popularity for this bill. We still don’t know if the federal government will take their responsibilities seriously.

Yeah, you know why? Key Dems base their support on whether President Bush supports the policy or not. If Bush supports it, they oppose it, even if it is their policy. If President Bush got the whacko idea today that all private employees should be forced to unionize, tomorrow, all the key Dems would be out talking about what a horrible idea it is.

Looks like Coleman favors the amnesty bill. He voted to forego committees, and bring it to the Sentate floor. Hardly anyone knows exactly what’s in there. It’s over 1,000 pages, and Coleman seems to be in a hurry to get it moving. I could be misjudging. Maybe he hopes to quickly kill it on the floor, but that outcome doesn’t seem likely, so if that was his intent, he screwed up.
