Words To Live By
"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

FACT: Republicans Voted for a Tax Increase, Billions in Tax Increases

Don’t be fooled. The Transportation bill  is full of billions of dollars of tax increases.

• $2.3 billion in extra gas taxes (including a 2.5-cent-a-gallon increase that would gradually kick in to pay off $1.5 billion in highway bonds). All that would go to roads and bridges.

• $1.5 billion in added registration renewal taxes on 2008 model cars and beyond, solely for roads and bridges.

• $2.6 billion from a half-cent general sales tax and $20 new vehicle excise tax in the metro area, which county boards could impose without a referendum. Senate supporters said leaders of all seven metro counties have indicated a willingness to do so. The money would go to transit and roads.

• $36 million in rental-car fee increases.

That money will come directly out of our pockets. The working men and women of Minnesota who are already struggling to make it under the over regulation and taxation.

Any Republican who voted for this bill ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I hear the vote count for override is at 89 right now. And this story says that Tommie (the Commie) Rukavina may not vote for override because of the smoking ban.
