No Tinkling This Time in the 6th

El Tinklenberg, the rejected (semi)moderate DFLer rejected last year by the 6th District DFL in favor of Patty Wetterling has ruled out a rerun in 2008. (Via MN Publius / Hotline / Politics in MN)
This bodes well for incumbent Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R).
If I were a betting man, I’d say State Senator Tarryl Clark (D St. Cloud) is the likely front runner should she choose to. But I am willing to bet she may get called up to take on US Senator Norm Coleman (R).
I think the DFL would like the odds of another woman candidate up against an incumbant Republican male. And besides, Clark’s liberal record in the Senate is rather short. She’s only been in for what, just over a year. She won a special election in December 2005 to fill a vacancy. She’s been given the task of putty a pretty (not so) face on Larry Pogemiller’s pig known as the DFL tax and spend nanny state Senate, so well, yeah. Good luck.
The field for DFLers in the 6th looks pretty thin and politically inexperienced at this point. Advantage Bachmann.
