Commanders in Defeat & Shame on McCain & Thanks Norm

Posted by Andy on 26th April 2007

Sen. John Kerry took to the Huffington Post today to well, put his foot in his political mouth while he tried to spin and help his buddy Harry Reid.

This is what Harry Reid really said, “And as long as we follow the President’s path in Iraq, the war is lost. But there is still a chance to change course - and we must change course.” Any questions?

Yes, we already know your plan is to leave Iraq no matter what. How is that not defeat? Cutting and running? Surrender?

On that same topic, the US Senate voted to pass the same surrender legislation that the House did earlier. 51 - 46

Two Republicans voted for defeat. Smith of OR & Hagel of NE. Liebermann voted against Surrender.

But more disturbing is that 2 Republicans did not even vote on the matter. John McCain and Lindsey Graham both skipped the vote.

This one was not procedural Sen. McCain, shame on you!

Now let’s be clear here. The Republicans allowed surrender to enter into the record. Had the 2 spineless white flag waivers Hagel and Smith not voted for surrender, the count would have been 49 - 48.

Add to that just one vote from either McCain or Graham, and the vote would have been tied 49 - 49. If my HS Civics class was correct, that would have brought Cheney in to break the tie. At the very least McCain and Graham should have had their votes recorded, and if they both did, Surrender would have been defeated today. I am afraid ….. well, I am quite disappointed in McCain and Graham’s lack of commitment to victory.

Sure the Democrats are responsible for this surrender bill being brought to the US Senate, but it is 4 Republicans who had a hand in it not being stopped dead in its tracks. I do not feel this bolds well for the upcoming elections. Republicans allowing defeat is not gonna sit well with the base.

Thanks must go out to Sen. Coleman from Minnesota who voted to oppose defeat! He doesn’t get enough credit for standing tall on supporting the military and Commander in Chief!

Thanks to all 46 US Senators who still believe in the Constitution and not waiving the white flag of defeat.

Stupid is as Stupid Thinks & Writes

Posted by Andy on 26th April 2007

This LTE exposes the sheer idiocy of the lefty gun control idiots and big government nanny staters.

    GRATUITOUS VIOLENCE
    Take stand on handguns

Syndicated columnists Bob Herbert and E.J. Dionne have it right (Opinion Exchange, April 22), that the Virginia Tech massacre points up the necessity for tighter laws controlling the sale of handguns.

Mass murders are rare occasions. The case of the teenager who was gratuitously shot and killed on a bus in St. Paul Saturday night is more typical of the atrocities that take place on a daily basis in any of our large cities.

I am waiting for at least one congressman to step up to the plate and say enough is enough — we must have stricter gun control legislation. Even if a tough handgun bill were sent to President Bush and vetoed, it would still send a powerful message, one that none of the 2008 presidential candidates could duck.

Not to act means that we live in a far more dysfunctional society than we realize.

    [sigh]

The 17 year old kid  who was arrested for the murder should not have had a gun in the first place according to current laws. So what good would more laws do since the criminal class in our country don’t give a damn about any of the current laws on the books, let alone the ones intended to stop them from doing what they do?

It is time for the adults to deal with the animals. Please take a big step back and watch, you just may learn something.

Just because you take a bone away from a dog, doesn’t mean that he doesn’t still want a bone. He will do every thing he can to find one and chew on it. So …… well. Not yet?

OK, here. Pot is illegal, but is one of the most readily available drugs out there. It is a billion dollar industry and is not only smuggled into the US, but is also grown here. So having laws is not working there.

The 2nd Amendment is the most important Amendment Americans have. It allows the citizens to make sure the Government doesn’t turn into a totalitarian state that controls every aspect of our lives, from what we do, to what we say. …..

Wait a second. Maybe it is high time Americans fight back against the growing Government before they not only take away our freedoms, but the guns that helped us shrug off the former despotic regime that had us under their heel last time.

I’m not advocating violence, just that my fellow Americans soon realize that if we continue down this road to the dysfunctional nanny state, we’ll be living under a theocracy much worse than the one we revolted against 230 some years ago. What happened to laize faire?

This man thinks taking away all guns is going to make him safe, but he doesn’t realize it is the very guns that he wants to take away, that are going to make sure he has the right to be the idiot he is and that a dysfunctional government will not stop him from being a moron.

He says to take a stand against guns, I say have the courage to take a stand against dysfunctional Government. It is far more courageous to fight for our freedoms and rights, than it is to fight to have the government take them away.

A-Klo’s Ashamed Ad - Reality Check - YEP! - Still Misleading

Posted by Andy on 26th April 2007

I’m sure you don’t remember the ad by now, but you surely remember the murder Sen. Klobuchar politicized in it. Tyesha Edwards was an 11 year old girl sitting at her kitchen table doing homework when a bullet came threw the wall and struck her in the chest, killing her.

Well, during the US Senate race here in Minnesota when Klobuchar’s revolving door County Prosecutor record was exposed, she unleashed an ad with Tyesha’s mother attacking Mark Kennedy.

The Klobuchar ad hits back with testimonials, including one from Linda Longino, the mother of an 11-year-old murder victim named Tyesha Edwards.

“When our little girl Tyesha was murdered, Amy saw to it that those gang members were put away,” Longino said. She closes the ad by stating: “Mark Kennedy, you should be ashamed.”

The local media was more interested in….. well, who knows. They didn’t lift a finger to follow any of the tips from myself and others about how the man who was the suspected trigger man had his conviction overturned. The murderer, has in fact, not been convicted, nor did he receive Klobuchar’s favorite slap on the wrist, a plea bargain.

    Strib

Burrell is accused of killing Edwards, 11, who was hit by a stray bullet from a gang feud while doing her homework in November 2002 in her Minneapolis home.

Burrell was convicted once of killing Edwards, but the state Supreme Court ordered a new trial and said his statement to police wasn’t admissible. He maintains he is innocent.

Even to this day, the suspected murderer is just beginning his retrial, thus, Klobuchar not only didn’t put him behind bars, but she may have in fact given him the fuel to get off scott free.

The local media really ought to be ashamed of themselves. But I digress.

Pelosi Passes Surrender Out of House

Posted by Andy on 25th April 2007

By a vote of 219 to 208, Democrat Nancy Pelosi has followed through on her promise to force America to lose the war against terror.

It is a sad day for America.

    And Minnesota:

It was a party line vote for our delegation.

The Democrats all 5 voted for surrender, and all 3 Republicans opposed surrender.

Thanks must go out to Bachmann, Kline, and Ramstad the Republicans who stood with the US military and for our national defense.

Pelosi ‘Virtually’ Spits in General’s Face

Posted by Andy on 25th April 2007

Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has stooped to new levels. Captain Ed

Pelosi has a simpler way of dealing with Petraeus and his briefing for Capitol Hill — avoid him:

    [...]

UPDATE: And let’s not forget that Pelosi had time to meet with Bashar Assad. What does it say about Democratic leadership that they would prefer to break brea[d] with a murderous dictator rather than meet with an American general reporting on developments in his command?

Well, I guess it isn’t new levels, but now it is getting personal and purely partisan.

Democrats should be ashamed of Pelosi and Reid, but unfortunately, I am afraid more are proud of their words and behaviors. Here we have the two most powerful Democrats in the US Government, and they are basically spitting in the face of the military.

Frankly I am not surrised. They are just doing what they have to in order to survive in the Democratic party nationally. The party that once was a champion of the military has, for decades, turned into its worst enemy. Democratic leaders need to do what Pelosi and Reid are in order to survive the pull from the fringe anti-war pacifist left. They are, after all, who runs that party.

Pelosi is a disgrace who deserves no respect. Why should we treat Pelosi like she holds a position of honor that demands respect? I don’t care it she is Speaker of the House, she isn’t acting like it.

    From Dayton With Love

Posted by Andy on 24th April 2007

Former Senator Mark Dayton (D MN) seems to be caught up in a wrongful termination suit before the Supreme Court with a former employee.

(AP) WASHINGTON Senate lawyers took opposite sides Tuesday before the Supreme Court on whether a lawsuit could proceed against the office of a former senator without running afoul of a constitutional provision protecting him from lawsuits for official acts.

The case involves a lawsuit brought in 2003 against then-Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., by a former staff member who claims he was wrongfully fired.

I don’t think Mr. Dayton should have answered the phone this week.

The Senate got involved in the case last month, when it passed a resolution directing its legal counsel to file a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of Hanson. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., sponsored the resolution with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Dayton, who left the Senate after one term and is not personally a defendant in the case, scoffed at the Senate’s action in a telephone interview this week.

“The issues being debated here are what the U.S. Constitution says and what the law says,” he said. “It’s not the opinion of 100 senators who pass a unanimous resolution with nobody around and no debate or consideration. That’s just political camouflage. It’s political posturing on the part of the Senate.”

Dayton said he’d be happy to go to trial and prove that Hanson was terminated for poor performance.

Even out of office, Dayton keeps lowering the bar for DFL officials.  Dayton, the gift that keeps on giving. I wonder how this will sit with the Big Labor union minded DFL base where the employee is always right.

    Over Desensitized

Posted by Andy on 24th April 2007

This is an interesting thing to think about.

WASHINGTON — A U.S. soldier says it’s ironic that American flags were flown at half-staff for victims lost in the Virginia Tech shooting rampage last week since “it is never lowered” when U.S. service members are killed in action.

President Bush issued a flag proclamation last week after a lone gunman, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people in the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.

Army Sgt. Jim Wilt, the author of an internal Defense Department opinion piece that was briefly released to the public on Monday, questioned why flags are not lowered for fallen service members like Sgt. Alexander Van Aalten, a member of Wilt’s task force who was killed on April 20.

Here’s another interesting thing to consider as well. Dozens, if not hundreds of Americans are killed every single day across the country. Why is it that just the ones that unfold before our very eyes on CNN get the flag treatment? No really, in Cities across this country, there’s more people murdered every day than there was in these few hours in Virginia.

I think we do over do the ‘flag at half staff’ deal in America these days. I think that it loses its real meaning when it happens all the time. When people have to ask gee why is the flag down, or you see some up and some down because people can’t keep track of everything, it defeats the purpose of lowering the great flag of this nation.
